The factor structure of personality disorder (PD) criteria has long been debated, but due to previous heterogeneous findings, a common structure to represent covariation among the fourth edition Section II PD criteria remains an open question. This study integrated individual participant data from 25 samples ( = 30,545) to conduct factor analyses of PD criteria. Measurement invariance tests across gender, clinical status, and assessment method indicated substantial structural differences between interview-based and self-report measures.

Sleep disturbances are commonly reported in individuals with borderline personality disorder (BPD) and are often worsened by comorbid mental health disorders such as ADHD, PTSD, and depression. Sleep problems may contribute to the persistence of symptoms, highlighting the importance of early identification and treatment of sleep disturbances as part of early intervention strategies. Despite this, the prevalence and predictors of persistent sleep problems in the early course of BPD remain understudied, particularly in longitudinal designs.

Prevalences, key issues in differential diagnosis, and the different aetiological background of the two categories are presented in this review. In depth, clinical diagnostic evaluation of both disorder syndromes, not only based on use of questionnaires, is needed to sufficiently distinct the separate main categories.

Design: A mixed-methods convergent design was employed using both qualitative and quantitative data on the same items.
Setting: In-home visits or meetings at three Mental Health outpatient facilities in Region Zealand East, Denmark.

Purpose: To describe the prevalence of self-reported depression in a socioeconomically deprived area in Denmark and the association to socioeconomic position (SEP) defined by education, occupation, and being in financial strain.
Method: 13,955 adults completing the Major Depression Inventory (MDI) in the Lolland-Falster Health Study questionnaire were included.Multivariate logistic regression on symptoms of depression based on MDI sum score and ICD-10 scores, associated to education, occupation, and financial strain - unadjusted and adjusted for sex and age group.
Objectives: Clozapine is continuously underused. The existing systematic reviews addressing barriers to clozapine prescribing primarily focus on clinical staff's attitudes and perceived barriers to prescribing. However, a preliminary literature search revealed additional literature on the subject not previously included in systematic reviews, including literature on patient perspectives.

Friendships are vital for the well-being of young adults, yet their social network is often reduced during episodes of life-disruptive mental distress, such as psychosis. Despite this, our study shows that young adults do either maintain or build friendships during such periods and that these relationships are crucial for recovery in youth. As research on the role of friendships in the recovery journey of this group is limited, this study explores the significance of friendships for young adults engaged in early psychosis interventions to generate insights that can inform mental health recovery practices.

There is a growing focus on person-centered care, emphasizing the importance of respecting inter-individual differences and implementing individualized treatment initiatives. Prior research has established an association between personality traits, body mass index, and health-related behaviors. The aim of this study was to explore the potential of personality trait assessments in identifying individuals at risk of glycemic dysregulation and increasing BMI.

Therefore, we investigated the relationship between attachment problems and mentalizing capacity and parent-child informant discrepancies on borderline personality disorder (BPD) severity, internalizing, and externalizing pathology in a clinical sample of 91 adolescent girls with BPD and their parents. Results showed that more attachment problems to parents and peers were related to adolescents reporting more severe BPD than parents.

Increased schizotypal traits have previously been associated with atypical semantic cognition in community samples. However, no study has yet examined whether adults diagnosed with schizotypal personality disorder (SPD) display atypical semantic fluency and memory. We hypothesized that 24 adults diagnosed with SPD would name more idiosyncratic words on the semantic fluency task and show decreased semantic recall for animal and fruit category words compared with 29 participants with borderline personality disorder (BPD) and a community sample of 96 age-matched controls.

It has not been subject to robust psychometric validation in a general population setting. The aim of this study was to evaluate the psychometric measurement properties of the MDI when applied in the general population.

This study aims to outline the psychopathological and functional status of participants, five years after being diagnosed with BPD during adolescence.
Methods: Participants were originally enrolled in a randomized clinical trial that compared mentalization-based group treatment with treatment as usual for adolescents with BPD.
Clozapine is the gold standard for treating treatment-resistant schizophrenia although continuously underutilized. Previous surveys of clinicians have found that some of the most frequently cited barriers to clozapine prescribing are related to the blood-monitoring requirements. However, these surveys tend to explore general perspectives and may not reflect the true impact of different barriers in real-world outpatient settings.

Background: Mobile app development within mental health is often time- and resource-consuming, challenging the development of mobile apps for psychiatry. There is a continuum of software development methods ranging from linear (waterfall model) to continuous adaption (Scrum). Rapid application development (RAD) is a model that so far has not been applied to psychiatric settings and may have some advantages over other models.

Methods: As part of the Danish general population Lolland-Falster Health Study, families with youths aged 11-17 years were included.
Background: Childhood and adolescent trauma is a risk factor for developing psychosis-spectrum disorders. The current study aimed to assess how childhood trauma might predict psychosis symptomatology, and how patients' beliefs of whether trauma is the cause of psychosis might affect this association.
Methods: Ninety-six first-episode psychosis patients were assessed for childhood traumatic experiences with the Brief Betrayal Trauma Survey, and for psychosis symptoms with the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale.
Introduction: Prevalence rates and correlates of personality disorders (PD) are relevant to health care policy and planning.
Objectives: To present normative data for self-reported ICD-11 personality disorder (PD) features including tentative cut-off scores and prevalence rates for severity levels along with psychosocial correlates.
Methods: The Personality Disorder Severity ICD-11 (PDS-ICD-11) scale and criterion measures of impairment were administered to a social-demographically stratified sample of Danish citizens (N = 8,941) of which 3,044 delivered complete data.

Background: The historical concept of borderline conditions refers to the pathology on the border between neurosis and psychosis. In the conditions were divided into specific but also somewhat overlapping diagnostic criteria for Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and Schizotypal Personality Disorder (SPD). This phenomenological overlap, which results in co-occurrence of the two diagnoses, remains a clinical challenge to this day.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA few epidemiological studies have examined personality disorders (PDs) among children and adolescents in secondary mental health services. This study aims to describe the prevalence and incidence of PDs among children and adolescents who have attended Danish child and adolescent psychiatric services (CAPS). Using register-based data, we studied all patients under the age of 18 years who were admitted to in- and outpatient CAPS (N = 115,121) in Denmark from 2007 to 2017.
