Avian coccidiosis, caused by Eimeria spp, is a devastating disease in laying hens. Previous studies have suggested that amino acids may be involved in Eimeria infection of broiler chickens. However, their metabolic features in laying hens, as well as the effect of multiple Eimeria species challenges on poultry hosts have not been elucidated yet.
