Background And Objective: Breathlessness is associated with higher rates of unplanned health service utilisation. We aimed to evaluate any associations between the severity of (hereafter ), time between recording and subsequent unplanned hospital admissions, and length of stay.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study of adults seen in general practice (UK Clinical Practice Research Datalink) with (Medical Research Council (MRC) breathlessness scale; 1-5; 5 is most intense), no pre-existing cardio-respiratory disease and a subsequent unplanned hospital admission.

Introduction: HHV-6 infection is usually asymptomatic or self-limited, although in certain populations, particularly in immunocompromised patients, it can cause serious infections. Hepatic involvement, previously described in immunocompromised and occasionally in immunocompetent adults, can lead to acute liver failure (ALF).
Case Presentation: We report a case of a 20-year-old female with no known liver disease, who presented with a 4-day history of diffuse abdominal pain, vomiting, and fever on the first day.
The textile industry is under increasing pressure to adopt sustainable practices due to the significant environmental impacts associated with fiber production, including high energy consumption, water usage, and substantial greenhouse gas emissions. The recycling of textile waste, particularly cotton, is a promising solution that has the potential to reduce landfill waste and decrease the demand for virgin fibers. However, mechanically recycled cotton fibers frequently demonstrate diminished mechanical properties compared to virgin fibers, which limits their potential for high-quality textile applications.

Despite efforts, the identification of biomarkers and new therapeutic approaches for GC remains elusive. Recent studies have begun to reveal the role of N6-adenosine methylation (mA) in the regulation of gene expression.

'Allostatic load' is where systems including the HPA axis are exposed to high, cumulative, physiologic burdens (such as chronic breathlessness) leading to flatter diurnal cortisol slopes and poorer health outcomes. The aim of this hypothesis-generating study explored longitudinal changes in cortisol secretion and any associated changes in breathlessness after introducing regular, low dose morphine or placebo.

Background: Hospital workflow automation holds paramount importance in modern healthcare systems. By streamlining complex processes, it is possible to enhance operational efficiency and patient care. Automated workflows aligned with open standards, such as openEHR, enable accurate data capture, seamless communication, and timely task execution among healthcare professionals.

Upper cervical (C1-C2) DRGs are functionally unique as they receive input from the neck, head, and occipital cranial dura, the latter two of which are also innervated by the trigeminal ganglion (TG). The C2 DRG also plays an important role in neck pain, a common and disabling disorder that is poorly understood.

Simultaneously, the rising prevalence of chronic diseases has intensified the demand for healthier food options. A promising approach to address these issues involves the valorisation of food by-products for the development of innovative and healthier food products.

Context: Morphine to treat severe chronic breathlessness might increase adverse events (AEs).
Objectives: We aimed to evaluate the risk of AEs in relation to dose, duration and titration phase of regular, low-dose sustained-release (SR) oral morphine for chronic breathlessness in people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Methods: Secondary analysis of a double-blind, randomized, trial of SR morphine titrated to 0-32 mg/day over three weeks in people with COPD and chronic breathlessness.
, a cactus known for its edible fruit, produces both summer and winter fruit with distinct nutritional profiles. This study, using samples from the same plant in Northeast Portugal, revealed that winter seeds contain 2.4 times more fructose and 1.

However, it is necessary to understand the adsorptive capacity of the produced substrates and the binding affinity of the peptides to determine the interface success. This study aims at exploring for the first time the influence of electrospun poly(vinyl alcohol)-based nanofibers on the adsorption of a cyclic peptide, Tiger 17, and of a linear peptide, Pexiganan, using quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation monitoring (QCM-D).

Thus, cellulosic fabrics (flax) were functionalized with chitosan (CS) and poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) electrospun nanofibers doped with titanium dioxide (TiO) and cerium dioxide (CeO) nanoparticles (NPs). The electrospray deposition of these NPs was also tested.

Objectives/methods: This study compared whole flaxseeds and defatted flour (proximate composition, fatty acids, vitamin E, total phenolics and flavonoids, antioxidant activity, amino acids, and protein quality) and updated the composition of cold-pressed oil (oxidative stability, peroxide value, UV absorbance, colour, fatty acids, vitamin E, total phenolics and flavonoids, and antioxidant activity) to assess the nutritional relevance and potential for food applications of these samples.
The food industry is encouraged to develop new sustainable foodstuffs, and agri-food by-products can serve as valuable ingredients in these formulations. In this work, olive pomace (OP), a by-product of olive oil production, was incorporated as an ingredient in pasta. The changes in the nutritional composition and consumer acceptance were assessed, aiming to scale up the production.

Coriander, caraway, and mystical cumin are famous for their aromatic properties and widely used in Moroccan cuisine. The nutritional/phytochemical composition of their seeds (used for food flavoring and preservation) were compared. Their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, cytotoxic and hepatotoxic effects were also explored.

Introduction: Disability, resulting from altered interactions between individuals and their environment, is a worldwide issue causing inequities and suffering. Many diseases associated with breathlessness cause disability but the relationship between disability and the severity of breathlessness itself is unknown. This study evaluated associations between disability using the WHO's Disability Assessment Schedule (WHODAS) 2.

We aimed to gain deep mechanistic insight into the disease process using bulk and spatial RNA sequencing on tibial and sural nerves recovered from lower leg amputations in a mostly diabetic population. First, our approach comparing mixed sensory and motor tibial and purely sensory sural nerves shows key pathway differences in affected nerves, with distinct immunological features observed in sural nerves.

Water security and industrial wastewater treatment are significant global concerns. One of the main issues with environmental contamination has been the discharge of dye wastewater from the textile and dye industries, contributing to an ever-growing problem with water pollution, poisoning water supplies, and harming the ecosystem. The traditional approach to wastewater treatment has been found to be inefficient, and biosorption techniques and mechanisms have been proven to be a successful replacement for conventional methods.
