The adventitia of blood vessels is their structural interface with surrounding tissues and may also contribute importantly to atherogenesis. Adventitial vasa vasorum and lymphatic vessels provide sources and sinks of interstitial fluid and solutes and remodel in disease. We constructed a mathematical model to investigate how soluble disease mediators, including lipoproteins and cytokines, are transported through the artery wall in healthy and atherosclerotic conditions.

Introduction: Until 2017, the United States Navy (USN) incorporated Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) curriculum into Basic Medical Technician Corpsman (BMTC) training program. At overseas USN and Marine Corps installations, USN hospitals and clinics must train and certify EMTs to support the Emergency Medical System (EMS) mission. Previous tools for studying these gradients and the cellular migratory response have required cells to be constrained to a 2D substrate or embedded in a gel devoid of fluid flow. Cell migration in fluid flow has been quantified in the absence of chemoattractant gradients and shown to be responsive to them, but there is a need for tools to investigate the synergistic, or antagonistic, effects of gradients and flow.

There has existed a severe ventilator deficit in much of the world for many years, due in part to the high cost and complexity of traditional ICU ventilators. This was highlighted and exacerbated by the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, during which the increase in ventilator production rapidly overran the global supply chains for components. In response, we propose a new approach to ventilator design that meets the performance requirements for COVID-19 patients, while using components that minimise interference with the existing ventilator supply chains.

This study evaluated the ability of an instrumented sock, which provides real-time foot strike and cadence audio biofeedback, to transition previously injured military service members from a RFS to a non-rearfoot strike (NRFS) running pattern. Purpose: To report a series of patients with cyclic esotropia, their surgical outcomes, and incidental findings.
Methods: The medical records of five patients with cyclic esotropia presenting over 17 months were reviewed. Age at onset, ocular and motility examinations, brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), acetylcholine receptor antibodies, thyroid hormone levels and antibodies, calendars documenting phases, surgical treatments, postoperative alignment, and fusion were documented.
Background: Life science research is moving quickly towards large-scale experimental designs that are comprised of multiple tissues, time points, and samples. Omic time-series experiments offer answers to three big questions: what collective patterns do most analytes follow, which analytes follow an identical pattern or synchronize across multiple cohorts, and how do biological functions evolve over time. Existing tools fall short of robustly answering and visualizing all three questions in a unified interface.
