Parkinson's disease (PD) arises primarily from the progressive degeneration of dopaminergic neurons in the brain, yet current therapeutic options remain inadequate for fully overcoming the disease or halting its progression. This critical unmet need has spurred significant research into natural products as promising neuroprotective agents. In this context, our study represents the first exploration of the in vivo anti-Parkinson's potential of Phragmites communis Trin.

Green seaweed (Ulva sp.) is frequently used as a food component and nutraceutical agent because of its high polysaccharide and natural fiber content in Asian countries. This study investigates both metabolomic profiling of Ulva sp.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTesticular torsion carries the ominous prospect of inducing acute scrotal distress and the perilous consequence of testicular atrophy, necessitating immediate surgical intervention to reinstate vital testicular perfusion, notwithstanding the paradoxical detrimental impact of reperfusion. Although no drugs have secured approval for this urgent circumstance, antioxidants emerge as promising candidates. This study aspires to illustrate the influence of eprosartan, an AT1R antagonist, on testicular torsion in rats.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFIIrbesartan (IRB), an angiotensin II type 1 receptor (AT1R) antagonist, has been widely employed in the medical field for its effectiveness in managing hypertension. However, there have been no documented investigations regarding the immunostimulatory properties of IRB. To address this gap, this study has been performed to assess the neuroprotective impact of IRB as an immunostimulatory agent in mitigating acute neurotoxicity induced by cyclophosphamide (CYP) in rats.

Background: Gastric ulcers represent a worldwide health problem, characterized by erosions that affect the mucous membrane of the stomach and may even reach the muscular layer, leading to serious complications. Numerous natural products have been assessed as anti-ulcerogenic agents, and have been considered as new approaches for treatment or prevention of gastric ulcers. The present research investigated the preventive benefits of Apium graveolens L.

Even though current medications for distinct breast cancer subtypes are available, the non-specificity of chemotherapeutics and chemoresistance imposes major obstacles in breast cancer treatment. Although combretastatin A-4 (CA-4) has been well-reported to have potential anticancer activity, studies of CA-4 reveal a decrease in its activity.

Wounds adversely affect people’s quality of life and have psychological, social, and economic impacts. Herbal remedies of Launaea procumbens (LP) are used to treat wounds. In an excision wound model, topical application of LP significantly promoted wound closure (on day 14, LP-treated animals had the highest percentages of wound closure in comparison with the other groups, as the wound was entirely closed with a closure percentage of 100%, p < 0.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFMetabolic profiling of the crude methanolic extract of leaves has revealed the presence of different phenolic and nitrogenous compounds including cerebrosides and tetrapyrrole pigments. A phytochemical study of the ethyl acetate fraction resulted in the identification of three known compounds, namely carpachromene (1), alpha amyrine acetate (2), and mucusoside (3) together with one new fatty acid glycoside, named 2--α-l-rhamnopyranosyl-hexacosanoate-β-d-glucopyranosyl ester (4). The compounds were identified using 1D, 2D NMR, and HR-ESIMS techniques as well as comparison to other literature.
