Background: There is limited high-quality evidence to guide plasma transfusion, and plasma transfusion practices remain variable.
Study Design And Methods: This is a retrospective cohort study that included adult medical and intensive care unit (ICU) inpatients (age ≥ 18 years) admitted to 23 hospitals in Canada between January 1, 2017, and December 31, 2022, when both whole blood derived (~290 mL) and apheresis plasma (~250 mL) were available for transfusion. Nine additional hospital sites with missing plasma data or coagulation testing were excluded.

Background: Heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) is an immune-mediated platelet disorder caused by antibodies that target complexes of platelet factor 4 (PF4) and heparin. HIT has been characterized as a polyclonal immune response; however, studies of other rare anti-PF4 disorders have identified clonally restricted antibodies.
Methods: In this study, we investigated the clonality of pathogenic HIT antibodies.
The Georgia Poison Center developed a protocol for managing mental health crisis cases via iterative feedback with Georgia 911-related emergency medical services and Georgia 988-related mental health services. The Georgia Poison Center managed 533 such cases in 2024 (the year of protocol implementation), of which 45 (8.4%) were transferred to 911.

Background: Toxoplasmosis is an early post-transplant complication in recipients of allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplant (HCT), typically arising from reactivation of latent infection. polymerase chain reaction (PCR) has improved detection.
Methods: Single-center, retrospective review of allogeneic HCT recipients who developed toxoplasmosis from August 2008 to November 2024.
