Dazhu Hongjingtian (DZ) is renowned for its diverse pharmacological activities, yet its metabolic pathways remain to be fully elucidated. In this study, the metabolic profile after oral administration of DZ extract (DZE) in rats was systematically identified by the UPLC/Q-TOF-MS/MS method for the first time. A total of 94 components, including 32 prototypes and 62 metabolites, were tentatively characterized in rat plasma and various tissues samples.

Two three-dimensional cobalt-based metal-organic frameworks with 5-(hydroxymethyl)isophthalic acid (HHIPA), namely poly[[μ-1,4-bis(2-methyl-1H-imidazol-1-yl)benzene-κN:N][μ-5-(hydroxymethyl)isophthalato-κO:O]cobalt(II)], [Co(CHO)(CHN)] (1), and poly[tris[μ-1,4-bis(1H-imidazol-1-yl)benzene-κN:N]bis[μ-5-(hydroxymethyl)isophthalato-κO:O:O]dicobalt(II)], [Co(CHO)(CHN)] (2), were synthesized under similar hydrothermal conditions. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses revealed that 5-(hydroxymethyl)isophthalate (HIPA) and 1,4-bis(2-methyl-1H-imidazol-1-yl)benzene (1,4-BMIB) are simple linkers connecting cobalt centres to build a fourfold interpenetration dia framework in complex 1. However, complex 2 is a pillared-layer framework with a (3,6)-connected network constructed by 1,4-bis(1H-imidazol-1-yl)benzene (1,4-DIB) linkers, 3-connected HIPA ligands and 6-connected Co centres.
