Developing competency-based medical education for dental education in Taiwan: A pilot study of tooth extraction entrustable professional activities.

Background/purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the initial implementation of competency-based medical education (CBME) through entrustable professional activities (EPAs) in Taiwan dental education, focusing on tooth extraction EPAs across undergraduate year (UGY), postgraduate year (PGY), and oral and maxillofacial surgery-residency (OS-R) levels.

Materials And Methods: Using the Delphi method, an advisory team developed and validated three levels of trial EPAs, which were implemented through the Emyway platform. A structured questionnaire was used to evaluate teachers' and students' experiences and satisfaction with Emyway and the EPAs.

Antiplatelet Reversal Is Not Associated With Decreased Progression of Intracranial Hemorrhage in Near-Isolated Traumatic Brain Injury: A Retrospective Clustered Analysis From Two Trauma Centers.

Introduction: Antiplatelet agents (AAs) may increase the risk of intracranial hemorrhage (ICH). It is unclear whether reversal of antiplatelet effects (REV = desmopressin acetate [DDAVP] + Platelets) decreases ICH progression. The goal of the study was to determine whether REV was associated with decreased progression of ICH on repeat brain computed tomography (CT) scan.

The redox mediated photoelectrochemical (PEC) or electrochemical (EC) alkene oxidation process is a promising method to produce high value-added epoxides. However, due to the competitive reaction of water oxidation and overoxidation of the mediator, the utilization of the electricity is far below the ideal value, where the loss of epoxidation's faradaic efficiency (FE) is ≈50%. In this study, a Br/HOBr-mediated method is developed to achieve a near-quantitative selectivity and ≈100% FE of styrene oxide on α-FeO, in which low concentration of Br as mediator and locally generated acidic micro-environment work together to produce the higher active HOBr species.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the in vitro cytotoxicity and antibacterial activity of different concentrations of hypochlorous acid (HOCl).

Materials And Methods: Five different concentrations (100, 200, 300, 400, and 500 ppm) of HOCl were evaluated for their antimicrobial efficacy against Gram-negative ( and ) and Gram-positive bacteria ( and ) after treatment for 1 and 10 min.

Resveratrol is a natural compound that has anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. Studies have found that diabetes-induced periodontitis is mainly caused by oxidative stress, aging and increased inflammation.

Photochemical Radical Bicyclization of 1,5-Enynes: Divergent Synthesis of Fluorenes and Azepinones.

A dual nickel- and iridium-photocatalyzed radical cascade bicyclization reaction for the synthesis of highly complex molecular structures in an atom- and step-economic manner has been described. A series of radical precursors are utilized for the divergent synthesis of diversely substituted fluorenes and indenoazepinones bearing quaternary carbons by using cascade cyclization reactions of 1,5-enynes. This reaction is characterized by its mild conditions, broad substrate scope, excellent selectivity, and satisfactory yield including facile scale-up synthesis.

Background/purpose: :Both periodontal disease and diabetes mellitus (DM) are long-term inflammatory disorders that are highly prevalent and have a significant health impact. Inflammaging, a state of pre-aging and hyperinflammatory state has been acknowledged for its role in DM patients to have heightened risk of periodontitis. Numerous evidences revealed that inflammaging contributed by cell senescence, acceleration of inflammation and oxidative stress participates in the destruction of periodontium in DM.

Performance of Scoring Systems in Predicting Clinical Outcomes of Patients with Emphysematous Pyelonephritis: A 14-Year Hospital-Based Study.

Background: Emphysematous pyelonephritis (EPN) is a rare but severe necrotizing infection causing there to be gas in the pelvicalyceal system, renal parenchyma, and perirenal or pararenal space. Identification of Clinical Risk Factors Affecting Patient-Physician Communication.

Introduction: Patient satisfaction is an important indicator of quality in health care and is linked to clinical outcomes, patient retention, and professional satisfaction.
