Objective: This study explored the potential of miRNA-134-3p and miRNA-155-5p as biomarkers for assessing seizure severity in children.

Methods: Healthy children and children with epilepsy from Fujian Provincial Hospital (Sept 2022 to July 2023) were grouped into the control group (n = 20), the well-controlled group (n = 22), and the poorly-controlled group (n = 18). Clinical data and serum samples were analyzed using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction to detect miRNA levels.

Objective: To explore the application value of reticulocyte hemoglobin equivalent (Ret-He) for diagnosing latent iron deficiency in female plateletpheresis donors.

Methods: A total of 230 female plateletpheresis donors in Fujian Blood Center from January to February 2022 were selected as the research group and divided into three groups: normal group, iron depletion (ID) group and iron deficient erythropoiesis (IDE) group, according to the severity of iron deficiency. The level of hemoglobin (HGB), mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH), coefficient of variation of red cell distribution width (RDW-CV) and Ret-He were measured by using the Sysmex XN automated hematology analyzer.

Article Synopsis
  • * Experiments were conducted with varying PE fiber volumes and PVA replacement ratios to examine how different fibers impact the mechanical properties of the SHGC; results indicated that increasing PE fibers improved ductility and a 100% PVA replacement maximized compressive strength.
  • * The findings suggest that a 25% PVA fiber replacement yields the best balance between economic and environmental benefits, offering a 12.5%

Objective: To investigate the correlation of iron metabolic parameters with platelet counts in blood donors.

Methods: A total of 400 blood donors who met requirements of apheresis platelet donation were collected, and their hematological parameters were analyzed. The donors were divided into low ferritin group and normal group, the differences of hematological parameters between the two groups were compared, and the correlation of iron metabolic parameters and routine hematology parameters with platelet counts were analyzed.

In order to improve the yield of steel produced in the converter and the quality of the molten steel, and to understand the distribution of the flow field in the converter and ladle during the steelmaking process, the CFD fluid simulation software Fluent 2020 R2 was used to analyze the flow field of the converter static steelmaking process. The aperture of the steel outlet and the timing of the vortex formation under different angles were studied, as well as the disturbance level of the injection flow in the ladle molten pool. The study revealed that in the steelmaking process, the emergence of tangential vectors caused the entrainment of slag by the vortex, whereas in the later stages of steelmaking, the turbulent flow of slag disrupted the vortex, resulting in its dissipation.
