During orthodontic treatment, poor oral hygiene often facilitates the proliferation of cariogenic bacteria, particularly , leading to lactic acid accumulation and subsequent enamel demineralization. To mitigate this issue, Dimethylaminohexadecyl methacrylate (DMAHDM) was incorporated onto the protein-repellent surface of 2-Methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine (MPC), resulting in the formation of a DMAHDM@MPC composite. This composite was then integrated into resin-modified glass ionomer cement (RMGIC) to develop an antimicrobial orthodontic adhesive, termed RMGIC + MPC + DMAHDM (RMD).

Objective: This prospective clinical study examined the effects of fixed orthodontic appliances on oral hygiene and assessed changes in the oral microflora structure of orthodontic patients using high-throughput sequencing technology.

Methods: A total of 45 patients undergoing initial fixed orthodontic treatment were recruited from three hospitals in Beijing, China. Clinical parameters and oral hygiene habits questionnaire were recorded at pre-treatment (T0) and at a 6-month follow-up (T1).

Introduction: This study aimed to evaluate the midpalatal suture (MPS) maturation stages using the cone-beam computed tomography classification method in Chinese children aged 5-10 years, adolescents aged 11-15 years, and postadolescents aged 16-20 years and identify a correlation between maturation stage and age and sex.

Methods: Axial sections of tomographic images from 717 participants (369 female and 348 male participants) aged 5-20 years were used to classify the maturation stage of the MPS (stages A, B, C, D, and E). Kappa statistics were used to evaluate the measurement error.

Objective: Direct determination of 35 trace volatile organic compounds in air by portable gas chromatography mass spectrometry( GC-MS).

Methods: The mixed standard gas of different concentration levels was prepared with high purity nitrogen as diluent gas. The samples were injected into the GC-MS by a hand-held probe.

A study was carried out on the contents of nutritional elements such as K, Fe, Zn, Ca, Cu, Mg and Mn in three different red pear varieties, namely Meirensu, Hongsucui and Mantianhongs, by flame atomic absorption. The results indicated that the linear relationships for different elements within the limits of working curves are good, and the range of recovery is 98%-104%, hence showing that the results asre satisfactory. There are abundant nutritional elements in fruits of the three different red pear varieties, meaning that they all have a relatively high nutritive value.
