Improving the cultural responsiveness of measures for Latino families of children with autism.

Purpose: Increasingly, interventions are being developed and tested with families of color, including Latino families of transition-aged youth with autism. However, without culturally responsive measures, it is difficult to determine whether an intervention is effective. The purpose of this study was to improve the cultural responsiveness of measures related to: knowledge of adult disability services, advocacy, and family empowerment.

Muscle oxygenation regulation in physical therapy and rehabilitation.

Lifestyle modification programme for people living with HIV with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease: a randomised controlled trial.

Background: Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is a major cause of chronic liver disease among people living with HIV, and preliminary evidence shows that lifestyle modification can reduce liver fat in people living with HIV with MASLD. We aimed to assess a dietitian-led lifestyle modification programme in inducing resolution of MASLD in this population.

Methods: In this single-blind, randomised controlled trial at the Prince of Wales Hospital, Hong Kong, people living with HIV with fatty liver defined by intrahepatic triglyceride content ≥5% on proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (H-MRS) were enrolled if they were aged 18 years or older, were on antiretroviral therapy, and had HIV RNA of ≤50 copies per mL for 6 months or longer.

Texture Analysis in Musculoskeletal Ultrasonography: A Systematic Review.

The objective of this systematic review was to summarize the findings of texture analyses of musculoskeletal ultrasound images and synthesize the information to facilitate the use of texture analysis on assessing skeletal muscle quality in various pathophysiological conditions. Medline, PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Cochrane databases were searched from their inception until January 2025 using the PRISMA Diagnostic Test Accuracy and was registered at PROSPERO CRD42025636613. Information related to patients, interventions, ultrasound settings, texture analyses, muscles, and findings were extracted.

Assessing intrinsic capacity for person-centred HIV care: a cross-sectional study in ageing populations in Malaysia and Hong Kong.

Introduction: WHO's Integrated Care for Older People (ICOPE) proposes we measure the functional construct of intrinsic capacity (IC) to monitor and identify individuals with age-associated vulnerabilities. Assessments of IC may be useful to address the evolving, non-HV care needs of ageing people with HIV (PWH). However, to date, its utility within the context of HIV has not been assessed.

Introduction: The safety and efficacy of sodium glucose cotransport-2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) in kidney transplant recipients remains uncertain. Transplant recipients may be at risk of thrombosis because of post-transplant erythrocytosis and SGLT2i are associated with an increase in hematocrit.

Methods: We determined SGLT2i use, the change in hematocrit and incidence of thrombotic events in kidney transplant recipients in 1700 prevalent patients in our center.

Lessons Learned From Research Collaboration Among People With and Without Developmental Disabilities.

Research related to the developmental disability (DD) community should include collaboration with individuals with DD. Unfortunately, people with DD are infrequently involved in research projects in meaningful ways, and there is little guidance about how to collaborate equitably with researchers with DD. The purpose of this article is to share lessons learned from a collaborative research study among researchers with and without DD using both qualitative and quantitative methods to develop and examine the effectiveness of a civic engagement intervention for transition-aged youth with disabilities.

Children with disabilities (CWD) tend to participate in fewer physical activities than typically developing children. During motor play, CWD often depend on teachers to provide direct instruction and frequent opportunities to practice motor skills, to interact with their peers, and learn new skills. To promote participation in physical activities for CWD, it is necessary to understand (a) teachers' perceptions about the importance of structured motor programs and (b) teachers' thoughts and concerns about implementing structured motor programs.

Patient-reported outcome measures for life participation in peritoneal dialysis: a systematic review.

Background: Patients receiving peritoneal dialysis (PD) endure an ongoing regimen of daily fluid exchanges and are at risk of potentially life-threatening complications and debilitating symptoms that can limit their ability to participate in life activities. The aim of the study was to identify the characteristics, content and psychometric properties of measures for life participation used in research in PD.

Methods: We searched MEDLINE, Embase, PsychInfo, the Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL) and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials from inception to May 2020 for all studies that reported life participation in patients on PD.
