Purpose: Increasingly, interventions are being developed and tested with families of color, including Latino families of transition-aged youth with autism. However, without culturally responsive measures, it is difficult to determine whether an intervention is effective. The purpose of this study was to improve the cultural responsiveness of measures related to: knowledge of adult disability services, advocacy, and family empowerment.

Oxygenation in the muscle tissue is an essential factor in muscle contractions for performing activities of daily living and exercise as well as muscle tissue viability. It is until the development of near-infrared spectroscopy for providing a noninvasive, continuous monitoring of muscle oxygenation.

We aimed to assess a dietitian-led lifestyle modification programme in inducing resolution of MASLD in this population.
Methods: In this single-blind, randomised controlled trial at the Prince of Wales Hospital, Hong Kong, people living with HIV with fatty liver defined by intrahepatic triglyceride content ≥5% on proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (H-MRS) were enrolled if they were aged 18 years or older, were on antiretroviral therapy, and had HIV RNA of ≤50 copies per mL for 6 months or longer.

The objective of this systematic review was to summarize the findings of texture analyses of musculoskeletal ultrasound images and synthesize the information to facilitate the use of texture analysis on assessing skeletal muscle quality in various pathophysiological conditions. Medline, PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Cochrane databases were searched from their inception until January 2025 using the PRISMA Diagnostic Test Accuracy and was registered at PROSPERO CRD42025636613. Information related to patients, interventions, ultrasound settings, texture analyses, muscles, and findings were extracted.

Understanding meniscus cell migration, crucial for healing, remains incomplete, especially its zonal dependency. This study explores how epigenetic mechanisms affect meniscus cell migration under inflammation, focusing on healing implications.

This systematic review aims to provide evidence-based insights into how these factors should be adopted into coaching practice.
Methods: The systematic review followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines.
Introduction: WHO's Integrated Care for Older People (ICOPE) proposes we measure the functional construct of intrinsic capacity (IC) to monitor and identify individuals with age-associated vulnerabilities. Assessments of IC may be useful to address the evolving, non-HV care needs of ageing people with HIV (PWH). However, to date, its utility within the context of HIV has not been assessed.

Although services are critical for many transition-aged youth, it is unclear the extent to which autistic youth participate in decisions about their services. By exploring the perceptions of autistic youth about their role in services, interventions can be developed to improve their participation. In this study, we interviewed 43 transition-aged youth with autism to explore their involvement in decisions about services.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFParents of individuals with autism face many challenges in finding appropriate services and support for their children, and they also play an important role in advocating for their children's rights and needs. Despite the increasing availability of advocacy programs, it is still uncertain how to best encourage parents to advocate for their children. This study explored the connection between parents' knowledge and sense of empowerment, and how these factors relate to three types of advocacy activities (i.

This study aimed to determine the impact of procalcitonin testing on antibiotics prescription in the real-world setting.
Methods: We performed a territory-wide retrospective cohort study involving all laboratory-confirmed patients hospitalized in public hospitals in Hong Kong in 2020 with COVID-19.

Systems navigation can be difficult, especially for low-resourced families (i.e., families who are "low income" or meet one of the following indicators: mother has a high school diploma or less; primary caregiver is unemployed; or the family receives governmental assistance).

Background: Nirmatrelvir-ritonavir is currently not recommended in patients with an estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) <30 mL/minute/1.73 m2.
Methods: To determine the safety profile and clinical and virological outcomes of nirmatrelvir-ritonavir use at a modified dosage in adults with chronic kidney disease (CKD), a prospective, single-arm, interventional trial recruited patients with eGFR <30 mL/minute/1.
Background: It is uncertain whether people with HIV infection have a higher incidence of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) than the general population.
Aims: To compare the incidence of HCC between people infected with HBV and/or HCV with and without HIV METHODS: We performed a retrospective population-based cohort study, involving people with HBV and/or HCV infection from 2001 to 2018. The primary endpoint was incidence of HCC; secondary endpoint was all-cause mortality.
Unlabelled: Going down a slide, dancing to music, and pushing someone on a tire swing are more than simply "play activities" or a means to staying physically fit. Engagement in motor play provides important opportunities for preschoolers to develop a variety of skills, including gross motor, social, communication, and cognitive skills. However, during the past several years, since the identification of the COVID-19 virus, no guidelines have been available to ensure that gross motor content is addressed while simultaneously meeting the educational needs of preschoolers with and without disabilities during virtual learning.

Transplant recipients may be at risk of thrombosis because of post-transplant erythrocytosis and SGLT2i are associated with an increase in hematocrit.
Methods: We determined SGLT2i use, the change in hematocrit and incidence of thrombotic events in kidney transplant recipients in 1700 prevalent patients in our center.

Introduction: Sodium-Glucose Co-Transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors have demonstrated kidney, cardiovascular and mortality benefits in the general population; however, the evidence is limited in solid organ transplant recipients. The aim of this systematic review was to evaluate the current efficacy and safety data of SGLT2 inhibitors in adult kidney, heart, lung, and liver transplant recipients with pre-existing type 2 or post-transplantation diabetes mellitus.
Method: We searched MEDLINE, MEDLINE Epub, CENTRAL, CDSR, EMBASE, CINAHL, and sources of unpublished literature.

Services are critical for youth with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), especially during the transition to adulthood. Under the best of circumstances, though, it can be difficult to access needed adult services. With COVID-19, services were more difficult to obtain and retain.

Research related to the developmental disability (DD) community should include collaboration with individuals with DD. Unfortunately, people with DD are infrequently involved in research projects in meaningful ways, and there is little guidance about how to collaborate equitably with researchers with DD. The purpose of this article is to share lessons learned from a collaborative research study among researchers with and without DD using both qualitative and quantitative methods to develop and examine the effectiveness of a civic engagement intervention for transition-aged youth with disabilities.

During motor play, CWD often depend on teachers to provide direct instruction and frequent opportunities to practice motor skills, to interact with their peers, and learn new skills. To promote participation in physical activities for CWD, it is necessary to understand (a) teachers' perceptions about the importance of structured motor programs and (b) teachers' thoughts and concerns about implementing structured motor programs.

Background: Patients receiving peritoneal dialysis (PD) endure an ongoing regimen of daily fluid exchanges and are at risk of potentially life-threatening complications and debilitating symptoms that can limit their ability to participate in life activities. The aim of the study was to identify the characteristics, content and psychometric properties of measures for life participation used in research in PD.
Methods: We searched MEDLINE, Embase, PsychInfo, the Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL) and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials from inception to May 2020 for all studies that reported life participation in patients on PD.
Objective: To evaluate how treatment with DOACs for VTE affects thrombosis and bleeding outcomes compared to warfarin in CKD and dialysis patients.
Data Sources: A literature search was conducted for studies evaluating VTE and bleeding outcomes with DOAC use in CKD and dialysis patients. Searches conducted through EMBASE, MEDLINE/PubMed, Scopus, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, from inception to September 22, 2020.
