During pregnancy, women often experience shifts in their body image perspective. Active engagement in positive health behaviors is crucial for achieving optimal pregnancy outcomes and promoting healthy fetal development. In this context, self-efficacy may influence how body image perception translates into such behaviors.

Evaluation of Changes in the Anthropometric Measurements of Infants in Relation to the Type of Feeding and the Presence of Gestational Diabetes in Their Mothers: A Preliminary Study.

: Breastfeeding is widely regarded as the optimal method of infant nutrition. A notable benefit of breastfeeding is its potential to avert the development of childhood overweight and obesity. This assertion holds particular significance in the context of infants whose mothers have exhibited gestational diabetes, a condition that has been demonstrated to be associated with an increased risk of carbohydrate and/or fat disorders in offspring, potentially leading to the onset of overweight and obesity in later life.

Factors affecting total protein and lactoferrin in human milk.

The aim of this study was to investigate factors affecting total, true protein and lactoferrin (Lf) concentrations in human milk (HM) and to evaluate the changes in protein concentrations over the course of lactation (first to sixth month postpartum). HM samples were collected from exclusively breastfeeding mothers during six time periods (1-6 months postpartum); 198 breast milk samples were collected in total. The concentrations of total and true protein in HM were determined using the MIRIS human milk analyzer (HMA).

The Attitudes of Polish Women towards Breastfeeding Based on the Iowa Infant Feeding Attitude Scale (IIFAS).

Background: The Iowa Infant Feeding Attitude Scale (IIFAS), which is used for the assessment of attitudes towards breastfeeding, has been found to be reliable and valid in a number of countries, but has not yet been psychometrically tested in Polish women. The purpose of the study was to report on the cultural adaptation of the IIFAS to Polish settings and on its validation, to evaluate the breastfeeding attitudes in Polish women who recently gave birth, and to identify the determinants of these attitudes.

Methods: The study was performed in a group of 401 women in their first postpartum days.

Quality of life in long-term survivors of early stage endometrial cancer.

Introduction: Endometrial cancer (EC) is the most common gynaecological malignancy in developed countries. Effective treatment of the early stage of the disease is achieved by surgery alone. An increasing number of patients with EC become long-term survivors; therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the quality-of-life (QOL) of EC survivors.

Prognostic significance of pretreatment VEGF, survivin, and Smac/DIABLO serum levels in patients with serous ovarian carcinoma.

The second mitochondria-derived activator of caspase (Smac/DIABLO), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and survivin are known to play a significant role in the growth and development of numerous tumors. Serum concentrations of VEGF, survivin, and Smac/DIABLO were analyzed in 92 patients with serous ovarian cancer and 94 healthy controls. Values were correlated with clinicopathological characteristics and outcomes.

Serum levels of IL-6, IL-8 and CRP as prognostic factors in epithelial ovarian cancer.

In the present study, associations between pretreatment interleukin 6 (IL-6), interleukin 8 (IL-8) and C-reactive protein (CRP) serum levels and epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) were analyzed using commercially available, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) in 118 patients and 64 control subjects. Values were correlated with clinicopathological characteristics and outcomes. Control variables included age, stage, grade, histological type and residual tumor size.
