Background: The interaction between the recipient area and the graft is one of the key factors in the success of periodontal plastic surgery. This randomized controlled, split-mouth, double-blinded clinical trial aimed to compare the clinical and aesthetic outcomes of epithelialized palatal graft (EPG) and gingival unit graft (GUG) in achieving root coverage in localized (Recession Type 1) RT1 recession defects.

Methods: Twenty participants with forty bilateral recession defects randomly received EPG or GUG surgical treatment modalities for each of the recession defects.

Purpose: To develop a system for assessment of the status of a tooth to receive a full coverage crown and depict it on a measurable scale, and to validate its use by assessing examiner reproducibility.

Materials And Methods: The index was developed based on the inputs from experts in the field with a consensus on factors (four periodontal, two endodontic, and four prosthodontic), stages of severity (stage 1 to stage 4), assigned scores, and relative weights pertaining to varied clinical scenarios. Based on the selection of factor-stage combinations, an overall tooth crownability index (TCI) score along with three-factor scores were computed.

In this case report, pedicled buccal fat pad (PBFP) was employed as subepithelial graft technique for root coverage of maxillary tooth with Class III GR defect along with furcation involvement and the absence of keratinized gingiva.
