Right-sided aortic arches are rare, affecting approximately 0.1% of the population. They are a result of abnormal development of the primitive aortic arches and may present later in life with later life with aneurysmal expansion of the aberrant left subclavian artery 'Kommerell's diverticulum'.

In this report we describe a case of acute thrombotic occlusion of the popliteal artery occurring after knee dislocation, successfully repaired by intimal fixation and a limited venous patch reconstruction. We present a review of local practice in screening vascular injuries following knee dislocation, aligned with a review of the literature and considerations for practice.

Background: Insomnia is the most common of all sleep complaints and is under-researched. The current treatments of choice are conventional hypnotics agents, but these have potential for serious adverse reactions. Uncontrolled and anecdotal evidence suggests that lavender oil is an effective treatment for insomnia, but this has not been formally investigated.
