Introduction: The youth age group (15-24 years) is a crucial transition period between adolescence and adulthood, which shapes the sexual behaviour of humans as an adult. Unsafe sexual behaviours, such as Multiple Sexual Partnerships (MSP), can increase the risk of sexually transmitted diseases among Indian males and females. Hence, to prevent MSP early, an assessment of MSP is needed among Indian youth along with its determinants for targeted interventions.

Objectives: To determine the association of impaired cognition status with activities of daily living among elderly Indian (≥ 60 years) population.

Methods: Cross-sectional comparative analysis was conducted using nationally representative data from a longitudinal ageing study in India (LASI) survey (2017-18). The univariate and multivariate logistic regression established associations between impaired cognition status and activities of daily living.

Background: Untimely menopause refers to occurrence of menopause before the age of 40 years or after 55 years, termed as pre-mature or delayed menopause. This is a secondary data analysis of LASI-1 to estimate prevalence of untimely menopause and its determinants.

Materials And Methods: LASI-1, a longitudinal study collected detailed information on the psychological, social, economic and health aspects of ageing in India.

Background: In recent years indoor air pollution (IAP) has emerged as a critical public health and environmental issue and to highlight the need for coordinated efforts to promote healthy aging and sustainable development, this study determined the association between frailty and IAP among male and female and among older adults (45-59 years) and elderly (≥ 60 years) population in India.

Methods: This study analysed the nationally representative dataset of the Longitudinal Ageing Study in India (LASI 2017-18, Wave-1). Bivariate analysis and logistic regression were conducted to show the association of frailty (outcome variable) with IAP (explanatory variable).

Background: Early onset of menopause poses a risk for various health issues in women. This study aimed to primarily examine the link between early menopause and indoor air pollution (IAP) and demonstrate this association within the Indian population, considering their place of residence.

Methods: This longitudinal study included 24,862 eligible participants out of 73,000 surveyed.

Introduction: Frailty is an inevitable part of ageing, which is also associated with a variety of chronic diseases, the most common of which are cardiovascular diseases. The WHO non-laboratory-based CVD risk scores are reliable predictors of cardiovascular events and are used in treatment decision-making in primary health-care settings. The current study aims to find the association between the non-laboratory-based CVD risk scores and frailty scores.

Introduction: With increased urbanization the prevalence of important public health problems like road traffic accidents (RTA) and depression are surging. This study was aimed to determine the association between RTA and depression among Indian population aged ≥45 years.

Methods: Using Longitudinal Aging Study in India (LASI) dataset (April 2017-December 2018), we have conducted this study among older adults (45-59 years) and elderly (≥60 years) Indians.

Introduction: Anemia is an important public health disorder. There is a significant chunk of India's population residing in poor housing quality with inadequate sanitation and hygiene, which might lead to higher anemia prevalence. The objective was to determine the association between anemia with poor housing quality among the older Indian adult population (≥45 years) as per residence.

Introduction: The prevalence of important public health problems like road traffic accidents (RTA) and depression are surging. This study was aimed to estimate distribution and determine the association between RTA and depression among Indian population aged 45 years and above: overall and stratified into age group, gender and across states/union territories as aspirants, achievers, and front runners.

Methods: Using Longitudinal Aging Study in India (LASI) dataset (April 2017-December 2018), we have conducted this study among middle aged (45-59 years) and older adults and elderly (≥ 60 years) Indians.

Introduction: An aging population is associated with an increased risk of cognitive decline. Sleep duration, both excess and deficiency, is a risk factor for cognitive impairment. Therefore, this study was conducted to assess the relationship between sleep duration and cognition in the Indian population.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk management in India, emphasizing the importance of understanding risk factors, particularly hypertension, in a younger population in resource-limited settings.
  • Using data from the Longitudinal Ageing Study in India, researchers calculated 10-year CVD risk scores for adults aged 45 and older, taking into account factors like socio-demographics, exercise, and history of diabetes.
  • Results indicated that 68.8% of participants had a CVD risk score under 10%, with higher risks associated with being rural, poorer, and less educated, while urban dwellers and those who exercised regularly showed decreased risk.

Introduction: Anaemia is a disease of public health importance with multi-causal pathways. Previous literature suggests the role of indoor air pollution (IAP) on haemoglobin levels, but this has been studied less due to logistic constraints. A high proportion of the population in developing countries, including India, still depends on unclean fuel, which exacerbates IAP.
