Aim: To assess objective response after two cycles of temozolomide and topotecan (TOTEM) in children with refractory or relapsed miscellaneous extracranial solid and central nervous system (CNS) tumors, including medulloblastoma and primitive neuroectodermal tumors (PNET).

Procedure: Multicenter, nonrandomized, phase 2 basket trial including children with solid tumors, completed by a one-stage design confirmatory cohort for medulloblastoma, and an exploratory cohort for PNET. Main eligibility criteria were refractory/relapsed measurable disease and no more than two prior treatment lines.

Hip problems in Mucopolysaccharidosis type VI (MPS VI) lead to severe disability. Lack of data on the course of hip disease in MPS VI make decisions regarding necessity, timing and type of surgical intervention difficult. We therefore studied the development of hip pathology in MPS VI patients over time.

Objective: To compare MRI and colostography/fistulography in neonates with anorectal malformations (ARM), using surgery as reference standard.

Methods: Thirty-three neonates (22 boys) with ARM were included. All patients underwent both preoperative high-resolution MRI (without sedation or contrast instillation) and colostography/fistulography.

Purpose: To assess objective response rate (ORR) after two cycles of temozolomide in combination with topotecan (TOTEM) in children with refractory or relapsed neuroblastoma.

Patients And Methods: This multicenter, non-randomised, phase II study included children with neuroblastoma according to a two-stage Simon design. Eligibility criteria included relapsed or refractory, measurable or metaiodobenzylguanidine (mIBG) evaluable disease, no more than two lines of prior treatment.

Aim: To assess objective response rates after 4 cycles of gemcitabine in combination with oxaliplatin in children and adolescents with relapsed or refractory solid tumours.

Methods: This multicentre, non-randomised Phase II study included five strata: neuroblastoma, osteosarcoma, medulloblastoma and other CNS tumours strata with two-stage Simon designs and a miscellaneous, extra-cranial solid tumour stratum with descriptive design. Eligibility criteria included: age 6 months to 21 years; measurable, relapsed or refractory solid malignancy; no more than one previous salvage therapy.

Intrauterine growth retardation is presumed to be associated with decreased renal size and impaired renal function as a result of stunted kidney development and nephron deficit. To study whether very preterm birth also affects renal size at young adulthood, we sonographically measured bipolar kidney length and volume in 51 very premature individuals (<32 weeks of gestation), either small (SGA) or appropriate (AGA) for gestational age (22 SGA and 29 AGA), and 30 full-term controls 20 years after birth. Relative kidney length and volume were calculated.

Introduction: No evidence based treatment is available for atelectasis. We aimed to evaluate the clinical and radiologic changes in pediatric patients who received DNase for persistent atelectasis that could not be attributed to cardiovascular causes, and who were unresponsive to treatment with inhaled bronchodilators and physiotherapy.

Methods: All non-cystic fibrosis pediatric patients who received nebulised or endotracheally instilled DNase for atelectasis between 1998 and 2002, with and without mechanical ventilation, were analysed in a retrospective descriptive study.
