Objectives: to provide the epidemiological framework of those affected by rare diseases resident in the Campania Region (Southern Italy), using the data entered in the Campania Region Rare Disease Registry, acquiring information potentially useful for regional planning.
Design: observational retrospective cohort study on patients with rare diseases included in the Regione Campania Rare Disease Registry from 01.01.
Background: Podocyte dysfunction is central to various glomerular diseases, necessitating reliable biomarkers for early detection and diagnosis. This study investigates the regulatory mechanisms of membrane-associated guanylate kinase inverted 2 (MAGI2) and its potential as a biomarker for podocytopathies.
Methods: Using fluorescence confocal laser scanning microscopy and super-resolution structured illumination microscopy of immunostained tissue sections of murine, human, and zebrafish tissue we investigated the subcellular location of MAGI2 in the kidney.

Background: Cystinuria is a rare genetic tubulopathy caused by mutations on SLC7A9 and SLC3A1 genes encoding for the apical membrane rBAT/b0,+AT transporter. The mean worldwide frequency of cystinuria is estimated to be 1:7000 with significant ethnogeographic variation in prevalence. Cystine builds up in the urine as a result of the transporter deficit, which can cause cystine crystals to form or even stones.

A 77-year-old man arrived at our Stroke Unit approximately 14 hours after the onset of symptoms (dysarthria and complete left hemiparesis) with progressive worsening up to coma and with a National Institute Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) of 22.
