Objective: We aimed to infer and describe Mexico City's HIV genetic transmission network from 2021 through 2022 by characterizing its members based on time since HIV acquisition, as well as sociodemographic, clinical, and behavioural characteristics. Additionally, we assessed clustering potential according to time since HIV acquisition.
Methods: Individuals with a recent HIV diagnosis at the largest HIV clinic in Mexico City were invited to participate, completing self-administered questionnaires on sociodemographic, clinical, and behavioural characteristics.

Introduction: Kaposi sarcoma (KS) is an angioproliferative disease caused by human herpesvirus 8 and is mediated by cytokines in an immunodeficient environment. This study aimed to compare IL-6, IL-10, and TNFα levels among patients with AIDS with disseminated KS (DKS), treatment naïve patients living with HIV without DKS, and healthy controls. Secondary outcomes were to compare cytokines levels in patients with DKS and unfavorable outcomes, and an analysis of the behavior of cytokines over time.

We report the experience of bictegravir/emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide for nonoccupational postexposure prophylaxis in sexual assault cases. Between June 2021 and October 2023, 39 individuals completed the 28-day follow-up; 41% experienced some side effects, and 1 person discontinued the drug because of a rash. No individuals seroconverted to HIV during the follow-up period.

Background: The global shift in healthcare during the COVID-19 pandemic led to challenges in the care of people living with HIV.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective study that aimed to delineate sociodemographic, clinical characteristics and outcomes, of people living with HIV diagnosed with ocular syphilis.
Results: Fifty-three people living with HIV were identified with ocular syphilis.
Purpose: The study is intended to perform an end-to-end test of the entire intraoperative process using cadaver heads. A simulation of tumor removal was performed, followed by irradiation of the bed and measurement of absorbed doses with radiochromic films.
Materials And Methods: Low-energy X-ray intraoperative radiotherapy (IORT) was used for irradiation.

Evolutionary analyses of viral sequences can provide insights into transmission dynamics, which in turn can optimize prevention interventions. Here, we characterized the dynamics of HIV transmission within the Mexico City metropolitan area. HIV sequences from persons recently diagnosed at the largest HIV clinic in Mexico City (between 2016 and 2021) were annotated with demographic/geographic metadata.

We present a four-year observational study describing PDR trends across 2017-2020 at the largest HIV diagnosis and primary care center in Mexico City. A total of 6688 baseline protease-reverse transcriptase and 6709 integrase sequences were included.

Here, we infer the HIV genetic network of Mexico City in 2020, and identify actively growing clusters that could represent relevant targets for intervention.
Methods: All new diagnoses, referrals from other institutions, as well as persons returning to care, enrolling at the largest HIV clinic in Mexico City were invited to participate in the study.
Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the prevalence of T. pallidum infection markers in HIV-positive individuals receiving highly active antiretroviral therapy (ART) in the Mexico City HIV/AIDS Program, as well as predictive characteristics.
Methods: The reverse serologic algorithm method was used for the T.

Objective: Resident valvular interstitial cells (VICs) activate to myofibroblasts during aortic valve stenosis progression, which further promotes fibrosis or even differentiate into osteoblast-like cells that can lead to calcification of valve tissue. Inflammation is a hallmark of aortic valve stenosis, so we aimed to determine proinflammatory cytokines secreted from M1 macrophages that give rise to a transient VIC phenotype that leads to calcification of valve tissue. Approach and Results: We designed hydrogel biomaterials as valve extracellular matrix mimics enabling the culture of VICs in either their quiescent fibroblast or activated myofibroblast phenotype in response to the local matrix stiffness.

Here, a fast-relaxing hydrogel system is exploited to investigate potential crosstalk between calcium signaling and mechanotransduction. Poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) hydrogels containing boronate and triazole crosslinkers are synthesized, with varying ratios of boronate to triazole crosslinks to systematically vary the extent of stress relaxation.

Background: Pretreatment HIV drug resistance (HIVDR) to NNRTIs has consistently increased in Mexico City during the last decade.
Objectives: To infer the HIV genetic transmission network in Mexico City to describe the dynamics of the local HIV epidemic and spread of HIVDR.
Patients And Methods: HIV pol sequences were obtained by next-generation sequencing from 2447 individuals before initiation of ART at the largest HIV clinic in Mexico City (April 2016 to June 2018).
The main goal of this study is to evaluate how to optimally select the best vibrotactile pattern to be used in a closed loop control of upper limb myoelectric prostheses as a feedback of the exerted force. To that end, we assessed both the selection of actuation patterns and the effects of the selection of frequency and amplitude parameters to discriminate between different feedback levels. A single vibrotactile actuator has been used to deliver the vibrations to subjects participating in the experiments.

In 2014, an HIV rapid test program was implemented in four departments of the hospital "Instituto Nacional de Cancerología". From 2014 to 2016, 3032 HIV rapid tests were performed in the hospital.

Materials And Methods:: Individuals who requested voluntary counseling and testing at CC were studied. We identified antibodies against HIV, syphilis, hepatitis C, and hepatitis B HBsAg.
Late diagnosis of HIV remains a public health issue in Mexico. Most national programs target high-risk groups, not including women. More data on factors associated with late diagnosis and access to care in women are needed.
