Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER) homeostasis is closely regulated by an adaptive signaling network identified as the unfolded protein response (UPR), which is tightly related to the inflammatory pathway. However, physical exercise increases plasma concentrations of interleukin-6 (IL-6), which exhibits both pro- and anti-inflammatory properties that mediate ER function and mitochondrial metabolism, making its investigation relevant in physiological and pathological contexts. In kidney diseases, the IL-6 levels are effective in predicting mortality risk.

Intimate partner violence (IPV) is a significant public health issue that affects individuals, families, and society in profound ways. Over the years, research has often shown that such IPV is predominantly one-sided, with men as perpetrators and women as victims. However, more recent studies have revealed that IPV is frequently bidirectional, with both partners potentially being victims, perpetrators, or both.

Inflammation alters junction proteins, resulting in increased permeability, and may also influence the response pattern of barrier proteins responsible for intracellular nutrient transport. Focusing on the MFSD2a protein (major facilitator superfamily domain containing 2 A), which is present in the BBB, is an important translocator of omega-3 fatty acid (ω3) from the periphery to the central nervous system (CNS), this study aimed to assess the impact of obesity induced by a high-fat diet (HF) on the MFSD2a modulation in the hypothalamus of mice.

Aging is associated with increased inflammation and microbial dysbiosis. Collectively, these influence microbiota evolution and may contribute to the enrichment in pathobiont frequency observed in old age.

Objective: Despite the growing acceptance and use of the evolutionary tripartite model of affect regulation, the lack of a suitable instrument capable of gauging the activation of the threat, drive and soothing systems hinders further advances. The aim of this study was to preliminarily validate the Emotions-Affect Systems ELicitation (EASEL-3)-a novel index used to estimate the activation of the three affect regulation systems. Evaluated were the assessment of its dimensionality, measurement invariance, psychometric properties and construct and nomological validity.

Geoprocessing represents an essential methodology for the spatial and temporal monitoring of populations, playing a strategic role in the vector control of Chagas disease. This cross-sectional, ecological, and retrospective study analyzed the spatiotemporal distribution of triatomines in the State of Pará, Brazilian Amazon, between 1977 and 2024, based on records from the Evandro Chagas Institute. A total of 9593 triatomines were identified, classified into 11 species and 6 genera originating from 83 municipalities.

The study described the sleep characteristics (SC) of children/adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and examined their association with medication use, support level, chronotype, probable sleep bruxism (PSB), anxiety, salivary levels of cortisol (SalC) and melatonin (SalM). Methods: Following anamnesis and dental examination, anxiety was assessed using the SCARED questionnaire. The SCs were determined by two age-appropriate questionnaires, and the percentage of negative SCs (%Neg) was recorded.

The interplay between autophagy and inflammasome has emerged as a critical factor influencing the aging process. Autophagy, which is responsible for degrading damaged cellular components, declines with age, leading to the accumulation of dysfunctional organelles and misfolded proteins.

This study examines the external and internal intensity profiles of male and female participants during a WF tournament, addressing a gap in research on game demands and induced load.
Methods: The study involved 176 players aged 50 + participating in a 40-min, 5v5 WF tournament with unlimited substitutions.

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and fibromyalgia (FM) are prevalent and debilitating conditions, conventionally delineated by distinct symptom profiles: PTSD is typified by intrusive thoughts and avoidance behaviours, while FM is essentially characterised by widespread pain, cognitive disturbances and fatigue. Despite these differences in definition, these disorders share a multitude of clinical features and risk factors, including persistent psychological distress. Furthermore, they often co-occur.

Conversely its global genetic ablation leads to impaired performance. Simultaneously the kynurenine (KYN) pathway, involved in tryptophan degradation, produces neurotoxic metabolites under stress and inflammation, contributing to CNS dysfunction and fatigue.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterized by amyloid-β (Aβ) accumulation, autophagic lysosomal pathway (ALP) dysfunction, mitochondrial abnormalities, and neuroinflammation. Physical exercise (PE) protects against AD, but its molecular mechanisms remain unclear. We hypothesize that PE-mediated upregulation of REV-ERBα and TFEB pathways mitigates AD-related dysfunctions.

Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) can play a crucial role in crops' adaptation to manganese (Mn) toxicity by regulating nutrient uptake and altering subcellular compartmentalization. The present study examines the influence of intact extraradical mycelia (ERMs) from native AMF on wheat () grown in Mn-toxic soil, with a focus on the tissue-specific and subcellular Ca, Mg, P, and Mn distribution.

Background: Cross-reactive immune memory responses to orthopoxviruses in humans remain poorly characterised despite their relevance for vaccine design and outbreak control. We aimed to assess the magnitude, specificity, and durability of cross-reactive immune responses elicited by smallpox vaccines and mpox virus infection.
Methods: We did a multicohort observational study involving participants from the USA, Brazil, and Portugal across four groups: Dryvax (first-generation smallpox vaccine) recipients vaccinated 40-80 years ago, JYNNEOS (third-generation smallpox vaccine) recipients vaccinated within the past year, a cohort receiving both vaccines, and patients infected with clade IIb mpox.
