Growth factors (GFs) are the unique signaling molecules that enable constant communication and feedback between cells, modulating cell behavior and maintaining the structure and function of tissues. Traditional methods to detect and quantify GFs, such as ELISA, offer high specificity but are usually costly, present lower limits of detection, typically require sample processing, and are time-consuming. Electrochemical sensing emerges as a promising alternative due to their rapid responses and easy operation; however, they are prone to biofouling when challenged in complex biological environments.

Background: The Movement Disorder Society Non-Motor Rating Scale (MDS-NMS) serves as a comprehensive clinical assessment tool for non-motor symptoms in Parkinson's disease (PD) OBJECTIVES: This study aims to validate the Portuguese version of the MDS-NMS, addressing the critical need for culturally adapted rating scales in Portuguese-speaking populations.
Methods: This multicenter, cross-sectional study engaged native Portuguese-speaking PD patients from 16 Movement Disorders Centers across Portugal and Brazil. We conducted a meticulous translation process into Portuguese, including forward-backward translation and cognitive pretesting.
Background: The MDS-UPDRS has been available in English since 2008, showing satisfactory clinimetric results and being proposed as the new official benchmark scale for Parkinson's disease (PD), being cited as a core instrument for PD in the National Institutes of Neurological Disorders and Stroke Common Data Elements program. For this reason, the MDS created guidelines for development of MDS-UPDRS official, clinimetrically validated translations.
Objective: This study presents the formal process used to obtain the officially approved Portuguese version of the MDS-UPDRS.

This study investigates the electrochemical behavior of GelMA-based hydrogels and their interactions with PC12 neural cells under electrical stimulation in the presence of conducting substrates. Objective: To explore the effects of rs6280 (Ser9Gly) genotype on PD patients' cognitive performance and to clarify possible interactions with psychopathology.
Methods: Two hundred and fifty-three consecutive PD patients underwent neurological and neuropsychological evaluations, which included: Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS), Hoehn & Yahr scale (H&Y), Dementia Rating Scale-2 (DRS-2), and Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS).

Hydrogels combined with electrically conducting materials can respond to external applied electric fields, where these stimuli can promote electro-responsive cell growth and proliferation. Although many details remain unknown, several positive statements can be made about the laminar distribution of primate frontal eye field (FEF) neurons with different physiological properties. Most certainly, pyramidal neurons in the deep layer of FEF that project to the brainstem carry movement and fixation signals but clear evidence also support that at least some deep-layer pyramidal neurons projecting to the superior colliculus carry visual responses. The extended Kalman filter was adopted to predict the failures, considering sensor fusion techniques such as the displacements of the upper central position of the tower above certain limits. The load of the stay cables is calculated from the natural frequencies, which are determined by the accelerometers connected to the cables.
