The diagnosis and monitoring of eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), a common pediatric pathology, typically involves invasive procedures such as an upper endoscopy with biopsies, imposing a significant burden on patients and healthcare systems. We aimed to assess miR-21-5p and miR-223-3p levels in pediatric EoE patients and evaluate their as potential non-invasive biomarkers of disease activity and response to treatments. We enrolled 13 children with EoE and 8 controls.

Malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) still represents a complex diagnostic challenge for pathologists in routine practice. Article Synopsis
  • The study assessed whether combining commonly used ultrasound risk stratification systems (RSS) with RAS gene mutations could improve the diagnosis of thyroid cancer in uncertain nodules.
  • A total of 124 nodules were evaluated, and the results showed that incorporating RAS mutations did not significantly enhance the diagnostic accuracy of the ultrasound criteria alone.
  • The findings suggest that RAS positivity alone is not a reliable indicator for distinguishing between benign and malignant thyroid nodules in the context of these ultrasound evaluation methods.
