Background And Purpose: Three mechanical thrombectomy (MT) techniques are predominantly used for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke (AIS): stent retriever (SR) alone, aspiration (ASP) alone, and combination therapy (CT) with a general goal of achieving first-pass reperfusion (FPR: eTICI≥2c). Factors influencing FPR and the relative efficacy and safety of the 3 techniques are loosely understood.
Materials And Methods: INSPIRE-S is a prospective, imaging core-lab adjudicated, safety clinical events committee adjudicated, global registry of AIS patients treated with Medtronic Neurovascular devices on the first pass and grouped according to first-pass MT technique.
Background: The internal carotid artery (ICA) has multiple classification systems; it is essential for brain blood supply, which has bone/neurovascular relationships of wide neurosurgical interest; its anatomy must be known in detail, its angiographic-imaging aspect (endovascular), its ventral aspect (endoscopic endonasal approaches); and its lateral aspect (anterolateral skull base surgery). Our objectives were to identify coincidences/differences between the main classifications of the ICA to improve its surgical-anatomical understanding, unify the terminology of ICA segments, avoid confusion, and carry out a simple description.
Methods: There are differences between classifications; however, these may overlap each other and determine the correspondence between segments, regardless of their purpose.

Collateral sensitivity, where resistance to one drug confers heightened sensitivity to another, offers a promising strategy for combating antimicrobial resistance, yet predicting resultant evolutionary dynamics remains a significant challenge. We propose here a mathematical model that integrates fitness trade-offs and adaptive landscapes to predict the evolution of collateral sensitivity pathways, providing insights into optimizing sequential drug therapies. Our approach embeds collateral information into a network of switched systems, allowing us to abstract the effects of sequential antibiotic exposure on antimicrobial resistance.

We sought to determine whether clinical, imaging or laboratory features in patients hospitalized for CAP in whom PCR is positive for a respiratory virus enable exclusion of bacterial coinfection so that antibiotics can be withheld.
Methods: For this prospective study, we selected patients in whom an etiologic diagnosis was likely to be reached, namely those who provided a high-quality sputum sample at or shortly after admission, and in whom PCR was done to test for a respiratory virus.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective single-center study of the prospective ARTISTA Registry, including patients with atherosclerotic internal carotid artery occlusion treated with eCAS.
