People with low vision (LV) experience challenges in visually tracking balls and players in sports like basketball and tennis, which can adversely impact their participation and health. We introduce , a wearable AR research prototype that overlays instance segmentation masks in near real-time for improving sports accessibility. To create ARSports, we manually collected and annotated novel first-person perspective sports datasets, fine-tuned instance segmentation models using this labeled data, and built an initial wearable AR prototype by combining the stereo camera with the VR headset.

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that often requires systemic treatment to achieve optimal clinical outcomes. The clinical and immunological heterogeneity of AD necessitates the use of various therapies to maximize efficacy while minimizing adverse events (AEs). Dupilumab, the first biologic agent approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for moderate-to-severe AD, targets interleukin-4 (IL-4) and interleukin-13 (IL-13) signaling pathways.

In the present study, the feasibility to achieve localized induction heating and debonding of multi-material composite structures is assessed in testing coupons prepared by Automated Fiber Placement (AFP) and extrusion-based additive manufacturing (AM) technologies. Nano-compounds of Polyether-ketone-ketone (PEKK) with iron oxide nanoparticles acting as electromagnetic susceptors have been processed in a parallel co-rotating twin-screw extruder to produce filament feedstock for extrusion-based AM. The integration of nanocomposite interlayers as discrete debonding zones (DZ) by AFP-AM manufacturing has been investigated for two types of sandwich-structured laminate composites, i.

The aim of this study is to analyse the effectiveness of tafamidis in a real-world setting in Spain.
Methods: This is a national multicenter study in which patients with V30M A-ATTR related PN treated with tafamidis for at least 1 year were included.
Background: Variant transthyretin amyloidosis (ATTRv) can cause sensorimotor and autonomic neuropathy. Objective quantification of sudomotor function may be essential for early diagnosis and early initiation of treatment. The aim of this study is to evaluate the diagnostic value of the Sudoscan® in ATTRv.

Background: Hereditary transthyretin amyloidosis (ATTRv) is a rare genetic disease that negatively affects patients' quality of life through the involvement of various organs and tissues. Despite a large amount of research on medical and psychosocial interventions, the impact of occupational therapy (OT) on patients with ATTRv is not well understood.
Objective: The aim of this study was to develop an OT programme to improve the daily functioning and quality of life of patients with ATTRv.
Tumoroids are 3D in vitro models that recapitulate key features of in vivo tumors, such as their architecture - hypoxic center and oxygenated outer layer - in contrast with traditional 2D cell cultures. Moreover, they may be able to preserve the patient-specific signature in terms of cell heterogeneity and mutations. Tumoroids are, therefore, interesting tools for improving the understanding of cancer biology, developing new drugs, and potentially designing personalized therapeutic plans.

This research analyses the viability of using cryogenic cooling combined with MQL (minimum quantity lubrication) lubrication, under CryoMQL technology, as a cutting fluid in the industrial environment to justify the increase in the environmental footprint generated by its use compared to MQL in stand-alone mode. For this analysis, a set of milling tests were carried out on carbon steel AISI 1045, which is one of the most commonly used materials in the business day-to-day. In this set of tests, the evolution of cutting edge wear and energy consumption of both technologies were recorded to check their tool life through technological and environmental analysis.

As opposed to the fast-increasing knowledge in megakaryopoiesis at the cell biology and molecular level, the characterization of megakaryopoiesis by flow cytometry is limited to the identification of mature MKs using lineage-specific surface markers, while earlier MK differentiation stages remain unexplored. Here, we present an immunophenotyping strategy that allows the identification of successive MK differentiation stages, with increasing ploidy status, in human primary sources or in vitro cultures with a panel integrating MK specific and non-specific surface markers.

Background: Early identification of COVID-19 patients at risk of critical illness is a challenging endeavor for clinicians. We aimed to establish immunological, virological, and routine laboratory markers, which, in combination with clinical information, may allow identifying such patients.
Methods: Blood tests to measure neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and levels of ferritin, CRP, D-dimer, complement components (C3 and C4), cytokines, and lymphocyte subsets, as well as SARS-Cov-2 RT-PCR tests, were performed in COVID-19-confirmed cases within 48 hours of admission.
Pulmonary nodular lymphoid hyperplasia, also known as pseudolymphoma, is an uncommon reactive lymphoproliferative disorder of unknown etiology that can be found in Sjögren's syndrome patients. Here, we present a case of a previously healthy woman in which the incidental finding of a lung mass compatible with nodular lymphoid hyperplasia led to the subsequent diagnosis of Sjögren's syndrome. We also performed a literature review for the association between both entities and described the main clinical aspects of the reported cases.
