Terbinafine and itraconazole are the most commonly used oral antifungals to treat onychomycosis and superficial dermatomycoses. Recently, poor response to oral terbinafine has been reported. We have summarized the most appropriate dosing regimens of posaconazole, fosravuconazole, voriconazole, and oteseconazole (VT-1161) to treat onychomycosis and superficial fungal infections.

Review on diabetic retinopathy with deep learning methods.

The purpose of our review paper is to examine many existing works of literature presenting the different methods utilized for diabetic retinopathy (DR) recognition employing deep learning (DL) and machine learning (ML) techniques, and also to address the difficulties faced in various datasets used by DR. DR is a progressive illness and may become a reason for vision loss. Early identification of DR lesions is, therefore, helpful and prevents damage to the retina.

Impact of G-CSF administration post-allogeneic hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation on outcomes: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Granulocyte colony-stimulating factors (G-CSFs) have been used post hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) for earlier neutrophil engraftment. The use of G-CSFs, and their effect on other post-HSCT outcomes remains debatable. In this systematic review and meta-analysis, we searched PubMed, Embase, Cochrane library, Google Scholar, and IndMed using a predefined search strategy.

Molecular and genomic landscapes in secondary & therapy related acute myeloid leukemia.

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a complex, aggressive myeloid neoplasm characterized by frequent somatic mutations that influence different functional categories' genes, resulting in maturational arrest and clonal expansion. AML can arise de novo (dn-AML) or can be secondary AML (s-AML) refers to a leukemic process which may arise from an antecedent hematologic disorder (AHD-AML), mostly from a myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) or myeloproliferative neoplasm (MPN) or can be the result of an antecedent cytotoxic chemotherapy or radiation therapy (therapy-related AML, t-AML). Clinical and biological features in secondary and therapy-related AML are distinct from de novo AML.

Introduction: Wilms tumor is the most common renal malignancy in children and difficult to differentiate from other paediatric abdominal tumors radiologically, necessitating an invasive procedure for diagnosis. Previous studies have shown the potential role of miRNA as biomarkers for diagnosis, histological subtyping and prognosis. In this study, we are exploring the role of miRNA in the histological subtyping of Wilms tumor in the Indian population.

A Paradigm Shift in the Treatment and Management of Onychomycosis.

There is an increase in the incidence of onychomycosis, especially in at-risk populations. Onychomycosis is difficult to treat, as the efficacy of most antifungal agents is relatively low. Nondermatophyte molds (NDMs) and mixed infection (dermatophyte plus NDM) onychomycosis are contributing to growing antifungal resistance, as they are often underestimated and ignored due to incorrect diagnosis.

Brain Tumor Detection Using Machine Learning and Deep Learning: A Review.

According to the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), the mortality rate due to brain tumors is 76%. It is required to detect the brain tumors as early as possible and to provide the patient with the required treatment to avoid any fatal situation. With the recent advancement in technology, it is possible to automatically detect the tumor from images such as Magnetic Resonance Iimaging (MRI) and computed tomography scans using a computer-aided design.

Multifocal Osseous Tuberculosis Mimicking Langerhans' Cell Histiocytosis: A Case Series.

Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is a common cause of multifocal lytic skeletal lesions in children. However, multifocal osseous tuberculosis can affect children and mimics LCH on imaging, especially in endemic regions. We report cases with atypical manifestations of multifocal osseous tuberculosis which were presumptively diagnosed as LCH.

Tumefactive demyelination in pediatrics: An unusual late neurological complication of hematopoietic stem cell transplant.

Immune-mediated demyelination is a rare posttransplant complication. Here, we report an 8.5-year-old boy who developed left hemiparesis, 18 months post matched sibling donor hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) for relapsed acute myeloid leukemia and was diagnosed to have tumefactive demyelination.

Industrial effluents contain hazardous substances that can be a serious threat to the agriculture and human health. In the present study, the cytotoxic and genotoxic impacts of agricultural soil from the industrial area of Dera Bassi (Punjab, India) have been evaluated. Assays such as defects in DNA repair in K-12 mutants of Escherichia coli and chromosomal aberrations in Allium cepa were used to estimate the acute toxicity and chromosomal mutagenesis, respectively.

More than Nail Deep: The Effect of Efinaconazole 10% Treatment on the Quality of Life in Patients with Onychomycosis: A post hoc Study.

Introduction: Onychomycosis is a common, difficult-to-treat fungal nail infection. Clinical signs include nail discoloration and thickening, which patients often find embarrassing, causing a negative impact on their quality of life (QOL).

Methods: In this post hoc study, we analyze the effect of efinaconazole 10% solution on a patient's QOL using patient-reported scores from the OnyCOE-t™ questionnaire (appearance, stigma, physical problems, symptom frequency, symptom bothersomeness, treatment satisfaction, and overall problem).

JUBLIA (Efinaconazole 10% Solution) in the Treatment of Pediatric Onychomycosis.

Onychomycosis is a chronic fungal infection of the nails and is commonly observed in adults, especially the elderly, those who are diabetic, have poor peripheral circulation, and are immunocompromised; however, onychomycosis in children is being reported more frequently, especially in older children. There could also be a genetic predisposition to developing onychomycosis. Given that onychomycosis is uncommon in children, it is important to confirm the diagnosis mycologically.

Structure of cholinium glycinate biocompatible ionic liquid at graphite electrode interface.

We use constant potential molecular dynamics simulations to investigate the interfacial structure of the cholinium glycinate biocompatible ionic liquid (bio-IL) sandwiched between graphite electrodes with varying potential differences. Through number density profiles, we observe that the cation and anion densities oscillate up to ∼1.5 nm from the nearest electrode.

Efficacy of Lasers for the Management of Dermatophyte Toenail Onychomycosis.

Background: Onychomycosis is a chronic fungal nail infection caused predominantly by dermatophytes, and less commonly by nondermatophyte molds and Candida species. Onychomycosis treatment includes oral and topical antifungals, the efficacy of which is evaluated through randomized, double-blind, controlled trials for US Food and Drug Administration approval. The primary efficacy measure is complete cure (complete mycologic and clinical cure).

One size does not fit all: the need for individualized treatment based on factors that may affect the therapeutic outcome of efinaconazole 10% solution for the treatment of toenail onychomycosis.

Successful management of onychomycosis is a challenge because cure rates with most antifungals are relatively low and recurrence rates are high. A drug-based approach by treating the nail alone may not suffice. There are several host-related factors (age, sex, body mass index [BMI], and patient's quality of life), disease-related factors (disease severity, duration, and the number of toenails affected), and comorbidities (tinea pedis and diabetes) that may affect treatment efficacy.

Methods: In this multicentric retrospective study, we retrieved data related to demographic details, clinical features, including the severity of disease, laboratory investigations and outcome.

Antifungal resistance in superficial mycoses.

Background And Objective: With the widespread use of antifungals to treat superficial mycoses, reports of antifungal resistance are increasing. Antifungal resistance is becoming a public health challenge and needs to be addressed in parallel with antibacterial and antiviral resistance.

Methods: We review the growing resistance of fungal pathogens such as species and the emergence of novel pathogens, including multidrug-resistant strains in superficial mycoses.

Foot and nail dust often contains fungi, from both fungus-infected and healthy-appearing nails.

Efinaconazole topical solution (10%) for the treatment of onychomycosis in adult and pediatric patients.

Introduction: Onychomycosis, a common nail disorder caused by fungal infection, can be managed pharmaceutically with oral or topical treatments. While oral treatments are often used first-line to treat nail infections, these systemic antifungals are not appropriate for all patients, and no oral treatments are approved for use in children in the USA. Given this need, topical antifungals were developed, which can be used as monotherapy or in combination with oral drugs.

Eltrombopag post autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplant - an emerging indication in younger pediatric patients.

Background: Engraftment of neutrophils and platelets after hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) is imperative for optimal outcomes. Eltrombopag has been used in adults after HSCT to boost platelet production. Its use in pediatric post HSCT patients has been limited.
