The first search for a heavy neutral spin-1 gauge boson (Z^{'}) with nonuniversal fermion couplings produced via vector boson fusion processes and decaying to tau leptons or W bosons is presented. The analysis is performed using LHC data at sqrt[s]=13 TeV, collected from 2016 to 2018 with the CMS experiment and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb^{-1}. The data are consistent with the standard model predictions.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAnaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC) is the most aggressive form of thyroid cancer. Despite recent advances in treating BRAFV600E-driven ATC, therapy resistance remains a significant challenge, often resulting in disease progression and death. Leveraging a focused CRISPR/KO screen in parallel with a CRISPR/activation screen, both tailored on response to BRAFV600E inhibitor treatment, we identified TAZ (encoded by the WWTR1 gene) deficiency as synthetically lethal with BRAF inhibitor in ATC.

We discovered Srsf3 plays an oncogenic role in breast cancer and Srsf3 knockout (KO) in mammary glands delays the development of breast cancer in an Erbb2 mouse model. In contrast, Srsf3 is tumor-suppressive in mouse liver tissues.

Precocious puberty (PP, OMIM 176400, 615346) is an autosomal dominant disorder caused by the premature reactivation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis. Genetic, epigenetic, and environmental factors play a decisive role in determining the timing of puberty. In recent years, genetic variants in the KISS1, KISS1R, MKRN3, and DLK1 genes have been identified as genetic causes of PP.

Data analyses in particle physics rely on an accurate simulation of particle collisions and a detailed simulation of detector effects to extract physics knowledge from the recorded data. Event generators together with a geant-based simulation of the detectors are used to produce large samples of simulated events for analysis by the LHC experiments. These simulations come at a high computational cost, where the detector simulation and reconstruction algorithms have the largest CPU demands.
