Warfarin is a widely used vitamin K antagonist (VKA) with known pleiotropic effects beyond anticoagulation. Preclinical and case-control evidence suggests that warfarin may affect hematopoiesis, but longitudinal human evidence is lacking. To explore this potential effect, we conducted a post-hoc analysis of participants in the Hokusai-VTE and ENGAGE AF-TIMI 48 trials, which randomized patients to warfarin or the direct oral anticoagulant edoxaban with routine laboratory testing at predefined follow-up visits.

In recent years Quantum Computing prominently entered in the field of Computational Chemistry, importing and transforming computational methods and ideas originally developed within other disciplines, such as Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science into algorithms able to estimate quantum properties of atoms and molecules on present and future quantum devices. An important role in this contamination process is attributed to Quantum Information techniques, having the 2-fold role of contributing to the analysis of electron correlation and entanglements and guiding the construction of wave function variational ansatzes for the Variational Quantum Eigensolver technique. This paper introduces the tool SparQ (Sparse Quantum state analysis), designed to efficiently compute fundamental quantum information theory observables on post-Hartree-Fock wave functions sparse in their definition space.

Purpose: To describe the clinical and multimodal imaging features of a novel form of macular neovascularization (MNV), designated Type 4 MNV, defined by mixed Type 1 and Type 2 neovascularization (NV), extensive intraretinal anastomotic NV, and central posterior hyaloid fibrosis (CPHF).
Methods: This multicenter retrospective observational case series included patients with neovascular age-related macular degeneration (AMD) exhibiting both Type 1 and 2 MNV and an overlying anastomotic intraretinal NV network. This was confirmed with OCT and OCT angiography (OCTA).

Amphetamines are psychostimulants that are commonly used to treat neuropsychiatric disorders and are prone to misuse. The pathogenesis of amphetamine use disorder (AUD) is associated with dysbiosis (an imbalance in the body's microbiome) and bacterially produced short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), which are implicated in the gut-brain axis. Amphetamine exposure in both rats and humans increases the amount of intestinal , which releases SFCAs.

Background: Rates of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) morbidity and mortality have increased in young women aged ≤55 years but little is known about their experience recovering from and living with AMI. A personal recovery (experience of an identity shift manifested in both losses and gains) has been reported among general AMI survivors. Our objective was to gain insights into young women's perspectives on long-term post-AMI recovery, under the patient-centered personal recovery framework.

Background: Obesity was a risk factor for severe COVID-19 in children during early outbreaks of ancestral SARS-CoV-2 and the Delta variant. However, the relationship between obesity and COVID-19 severity during the Omicron wave remains unclear.
Methods: This multicenter, observational study included polymerase chain r eaction-confirmed SARS-CoV-2-infected children and adolescents from Australia, Brazil, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland, Thailand, the United Kingdom and the United States hospitalized between January 1, 2020, and March 31, 2022.

Behçet's disease (BD) is a rare multisystemic vasculitis that significantly impacts patients' quality of life. Effective management of BD requires a patient-centred approach that empowers individuals to actively participate in their care. This work explores the importance of patient empowerment, adherence to treatment, and patient education in BD.

The "biological view" of Alzheimer's disease (AD) focuses on the role of plaques and tangles and excludes syndromes from the disease definition. However, cognitive syndromes are fundamental aspects of AD and are the ultimate target of treatments. Accordingly, the study of cognitive syndromes should remain a major goal of AD research.

Background: Multi-canal benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (MC-BPPV) is a rare form of BPPV characterized by the simultaneous involvement of multiple semicircular canals, often resulting in complex diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. While MC-BPPV most commonly affects the posterior and horizontal semicircular canals, tri-canal involvement - especially with bilateral asymmetry - is exceedingly rare.
Purpose: To describe a unique case of tri-canal BPPV involving right posterior and horizontal semicircular cupulolithiasis and left horizontal semicircular canalolithiasis, successfully managed with a structured, sequential protocol of repositioning maneuvers including a novel Bascule maneuver.

Motivation: The advent of next-generation sequencing-based spatially resolved transcriptomics (SRT) techniques has reshaped genomic studies by enabling high-throughput gene expression profiling while preserving spatial and morphological context. Understanding gene functions and interactions in different spatial domains is crucial, as it can enhance our comprehension of biological mechanisms, such as cancer-immune interactions and cell differentiation in various regions. It is necessary to cluster tissue regions into distinct spatial domains and identify discriminating genes that elucidate the clustering result, referred to as spatial domain-specific discriminating genes (DGs).

Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is a neuromuscular disease caused by low levels of SMN protein. Several therapeutic approaches boosting SMN are approved for human patients, delivering remarkable improvements in lifespan and symptoms. However, emerging phenotypes, including neurodevelopmental comorbidities, are being reported in some treated SMA patients, indicative of alterations in brain development.

3-O-sulfation of heparan sulfate (HS) is the key determinant for binding and activation of Antithrombin III (AT). This interaction is the basis of heparin treatment to prevent thrombotic events and excess coagulation. Antithrombin-binding HS (HSAT) is expressed in human tissues, but is thought to be expressed in the subendothelial space, mast cells, and follicular fluid.

Background: Lower extremity arterial disease is a prevalent vascular condition leading to ischemic symptoms and increased risk of cardiovascular events. Drug-eluting stents have improved outcomes by reducing restenosis, with sirolimus emerging as a promising alternative to paclitaxel due to its safer profile. This study evaluates the efficacy and safety of novel polymer-free Amphilimus formulation (Sirolimus + fatty acid) eluting self-expanding stent in the treatment of femoropopliteal disease in a real-world population.

MS4A4A belongs to the MS4A tetraspan protein superfamily and is selectively expressed by the monocyte-macrophage lineage. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the role of MS4A4A+ macrophages in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) pathogenesis and response to treatment. RNA sequencing and immunohistochemistry of synovial samples from either early treatment-naïve or active chronic RA patients showed that MS4A4A expression positively correlated with synovial inflammation.

Antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) represent a promising therapeutic approach in gynecologic cancers, particularly ovarian and cervical malignancies. Agents such as mirvetuximab soravtansine, and tisotumab vedotin, targeting folate receptor alpha and tissue factor, respectively, reported clinical efficacy in patients with limited options. However, their use is associated with ocular toxicities, including keratopathy, blurred vision, and dry eye, which may impact adherence and quality of life.

Glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) have gained prominence for their efficacy in treating type 2 diabetes and obesity. Recent evidence suggests that their pleiotropic effects-beyond glycemic control and weight loss-include anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, and antioxidative effects, which may beneficially support various dermatologic conditions such as psoriasis, hidradenitis suppurativa, acanthosis nigricans, and Hailey-Hailey disease. However, GLP-1 RAs are also associated with emerging cutaneous adverse drug reactions, including bullous, exanthematous and vasculitic manifestations, and other rare side effects.
