The objective of this work was to develop guidelines for nutritional support in critically ill adults and children (excluding neonates and burn patients) unable to maintain an adequate oral intake. We aimed to provide up-to-date recommendations based on high-level evidence including the results of recent landmark randomized controlled trials. Experts from the French Intensive Care Society (SRLF), the French Society of Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (SFNCM), and the French-Speaking Group of Pediatric Emergency Physicians and Intensivists (GFRUP) used the GRADE methodology to develop the guidelines.

Introduction: Severe perinatal asphyxia at term or near term remains a critical public health issue, associated with high risks of neonatal death and hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy (HIE). Despite improved clinical guidelines, suboptimal care persists in many cases, and previous audits have demonstrated that up to 50% of asphyxia cases could be associated with suboptimal care. OptiNeoCare is a French study which aims to assess the prevalence and determinants of suboptimal obstetric and neonatal care and evaluate its potential impact on neonatal outcomes.

Background And Objectives: Emerging evidence suggests that comorbidities like human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection, diabetes mellitus (DM), and malnutrition in tuberculosis (TB) patients can alter drug concentrations, thereby affecting the treatment outcomes. For these populations, personalised strategies such as therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) may be essential. We investigated the variations of drug levels within comorbid populations and analysed the differences in patterns observed between sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) and non-SSA regions.

A Scalable Dynamic Cascade Flow Reactor for Challenging Continuous Heterogeneous Processes.

Chimia (Aarau)

June 2025

Institute of Chemical Technology, Haute école d'Ingénierie et d'Architecture Fribourg, HES-SO University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland, Boulevard de Pérolles 80, CH-1700 Fribourg, Switzerland.

Continuous processes (often referred to as flow chemistry) offers multiple advantages over batch processes and are of particular interest for industrial applications as they provide a more direct path towards process intensification, increased safety and efficiency. However, some chemical processes are still challenging to run in a continuous fashion, such as reactions producing fouling, using stoichiometric amounts of solids, or requiring long residence times. For those kinds of reactions, batch approaches are usually preferred even though some processes would still benefit from the advantages inherent to flow.

Background: Digital health literacy (DHL), recognized as a key determinant of health, can influence health and well-being, improve health equity, and reduce health disparities. However, DHL is often limited among forced migrant populations, who usually lack the skills to understand and evaluate health information or to access and use digital health resources appropriately.

Objective: We aimed to (1) identify effective interventions designed to improve DHL among forced migrant populations and (2) categorize and describe the characteristics of interventions that aim to improve the abilities of forced migrants or adapt digital health services to meet the needs and expectations of forced migrant populations limited by low levels of DHL.

Periodization is a concept of systematic progression in training and rehabilitation. The rehabilitation literature, however, is scarce, with information about optimally designing resistance training programs based on periodization principles for injured athletes. This periodization model-reverse linear neuro periodization-is a model proposed for the long-term rehabilitation needed after an arthroscopic rotator cuff repair.

Women exhibit unique vulnerabilities in health, especially regarding mental health and neurodegenerative diseases. Biological, hormonal, and metabolic differences contribute to sex-specific risks that remain underrepresented in clinical studies. Diseases such as major depressive disorder (MDD) and Alzheimer's disease (AD) are more prevalent in women and may be influenced by hormonal transitions, particularly during menopause.

Purpose: Anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) using the hamstring graft is commonly performed to restore knee stability; however, it induces significant neuromuscular and biomechanical changes, particularly in the hamstring. This study aimed to evaluate the changes in maximum effective angle, hamstring strength, and hamstring-to-quadriceps (H/Q) strength ratio at 3 and 6 months post-ACLR and compare these outcomes to a control group.

Methods: This prospective controlled study included 20 ACLR patients and 20 age- and gender-matched controls.
