The current research was carried out to develop a genetic algorithm-based artificial neural network (ΑΝΝ) model able of simulating the levels of antioxidants in savory when using soil amendments [biochar (BC) and superabsorbent (SA)] under drought.

Remote sensing has been widely used for calculating the evapotranspiration over large areas, which is an essential variable for calculating the actual irrigation needs of crops. The main objective of this work is to design an approach to optimize the irrigation needs for specific crops.

Associations between breastfeeding and self-reported experience of the "10 Steps to Successful Breastfeeding": a cross-sectional and longitudinal study of maternity clinic practices in Cyprus.

Objective: To assess the implementation of the "10 Steps for Successful Breastfeeding" and explore associations with any Breastfeeding (BF) and Exclusive Breastfeeding (EBF) initiation and continuation.

Methods: Implementation of the 10 Steps was assessed based on a consecutive sample of 568 mothers' self-reported experience across all public ( = 5) and 29 (of 35) private maternity clinics using the WHO/UNICEF BFHI questionnaire (Section 4) within the first 24-48 h after birth. BF and EBF were estimated within 48 h after birth as well as at 1st, 4th and 6th month based on a self-reported current status method.

As the understanding of WM progresses and new theories, such as the distributed view of WM, develop, the need to advance the methods used to study WM also arises. This perspective discusses how building from the state-of-the-art in the field of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), and utilising cortico-cortical TMS, may pave the way for testing some of the predictions proposed by the distributed WM view.

The direct and urinary electrolyte-mediated effects of ambient temperature on population blood pressure: A causal mediation analysis.

High ambient heat can directly influence blood pressure (BP) through the vasodilation of the skin vasculature and indirectly by affecting urinary volume and electrolyte levels. We evaluated the direct and urine electrolyte-mediated effects of ambient temperature on BP. We pooled 5,624 person-visit data from a community-based stepped-wedge randomized control trial in southwest coastal Bangladesh from December 2016 to May 2017.

The current paper follows the thematic review '' aiming to highlight and familiarize readers with the challenges and heterogeneity related to the prevalence, and diagnostic processes of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) from a cross-cultural and diverse geopolitical framework with a focus on Cyprus, Malta, and Greece. The study's goal was twofold: (a) to document the prevalence and diagnostic processes in the aforementioned geographical areas and (b) to highlight similarities and differences in the prevalence and diagnostic process in ASD. The findings revealed similarities across all countries regarding the diagnostic tools implemented in ASD assessment tools and clinical observations.

Unique Needs and Challenges Experienced by Young People With Stroke: An International Qualitative Analysis.

Background And Objectives: Stroke in young adults has a lifelong impact on activities of daily life, including driving, leisure, and community-based activities; social participation; and reduced productivity. The needs of young people with stroke (YPwS) are likely to vary across different countries, and the development of age-adapted information and interventions is therefore critical in addressing those needs. This study aims to (1) identify the unmet needs of people with stroke aged 18 to 55 years across countries with varied income levels and cultural backgrounds and (2) determine their preferred means to access knowledge and information about stroke in the young.

Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease risk based on SCORE algorithms and reclassification based on preclinical atherosclerotic plaques.

Background: The aim of this study was to determine the efficacy of the number of carotid and common femoral bifurcations with plaque (NBP) detected by ultrasound in reclassifying atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk obtained from SCORE algorithms. Data from the cohort of 1000 individuals free from ASCVD in the Cyprus Epidemiological Study on Atherosclerosis was used.

Methods: In each predicted ASCVD risk class (low, moderate, high) based on SCORE algorithms and baseline data, the observed 10-year risk of subgroups according to the NBP was used to reclassify participants.

The article examines the profound impact of hearing loss on language development, psychosocial well-being, and quality of life, especially in infants and toddlers, who are at risk of significant delays in speech and language development.

The drying of medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs) is one of the main preservation methods for these products that can prolong their shelf life, if performed properly. The current study aimed to examine the effects of different drying conditions (sun, shade, and oven drying at 42 °C) on the quality characteristics of , , and ; their essential oil (EO) yield; and their biological properties (antioxidant and antibacterial activities). According to the results of the current study, oven drying resulted in faster moisture loss for all investigated species and slightly darker products.

Carob leaves have gained attention for their bioactive properties and traditional medicinal uses, including as treatment for diabetes, digestive disorders, and microbial infections. The aim of this study was to explore the phytochemical composition of carob leaf acetone extracts using advanced spectroscopic techniques. The combined use of heteronuclear nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) experiments with 1D selective nuclear Overhauser effect spectroscopy (NOESY) offers detailed structural insights and enables the direct identification and quantification of key bioactive constituents in carob leaf extract.
