A pillared-layer MOF, {[Cu(Fu)(BPY)]·HO} , was synthesized at room temperature employing a mixture of water and methanol as the reaction solvent. By using the sodium salts of fumarate, instead of the native acids, the target MOF could be readily prepared in aqueous media. The PXRD of this MOF was found to be in good agreement with the simulated diffractogram from single crystal data of related MOF made at a higher temperature using DMF as the solvent.

The van der Waals heterostructure of Janus materials with a TMD monolayer was used to create a two-dimensional class of nanomaterials for photovoltaic solar cell applications. It is one of the potential methods for enhancing the performance of photovoltaic systems. Two monolayers of different 2D materials, Janus (ZrXO) and TMDs (MX), are stacked together to form the heterojunction.

Background And Aims: Pregnancy-induced hypertension is one of the top three ranked diseases during pregnancy that cause maternal, fetal, and neonatal morbidity and mortality worldwide. To provide adequate information to clinicians and researchers who are striving for potential interventions, biochemical profiling of such patients is required.
Methods: A hospital-based case-control study design was conducted from August 2020 to May 2021 to evaluate serum lipid profile, uric acid, and high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) among women with pregnancy-induced hypertension compared to normotensive pregnant women.

Nanoscale materials with multifunctional properties are necessary for the quick development of high-performance devices for a wide range of applications, hence theoretical research into new two-dimensional (2D) materials is encouraged. 2D materials have a distinct crystalline structure that leads to intriguing occurrences. Stacking diverse two-dimensional (2D) materials has shown to be an efficient way for producing high-performance semiconductor materials.

With a 20 m mixed layer ocean, aggregation occurs after 25 days. Thinner ocean layers slow the onset of clustering, with a 1 m ocean layer needing around 43 days.

The prevalence and severity of skin disease commonly seen in HIV-infected patients has decreased in the era of combination antiretroviral therapy (cART). Few studies in Ethiopia have shown the magnitude of skin problems among adult patients on cART.

The main aim of this study was to assess the incidence of complications and associated factors among surgical patients admitted in limited-resource settings of the PACU.
Methods: This is an observational study of 396 surgical patients admitted to PACU.
Commercially produced complementary foods are inaccessible to rural households in Ethiopia. This study aimed to optimize the nutritional and functional properties of local complementary foods using flours of the following locally available crops: maize, red kidney bean, , and pumpkin fruit. Ten formulations were generated using a customized mixture design.

Background: Mycobacterium tuberculosis (TB) is the deadliest disease that claims millions of deaths globally. Ethiopia is among the countries heavily hit by the disaster. Despite the effective directly observed treatment and TB infection control (TBIC) measures provided by the world health organization (WHO), the rate of new cases increased daily throughout the country.

The Virus Outbreak Data Network (VODAN)-Africa studied the possibility of increasing the production of clinical data, finding concerns about data ownership, and the limited use of health data for quality treatment at point of care. To address this, VODAN Africa developed an architecture to record clinical health data and research data collected on the incidence of COVID-19, producing these as human- and machine-readable data objects in a distributed architecture of locally governed, linked, human- and machine-readable data.

Southern gelada () is an endemic little-known subspecies of gelada that inhabits human-modified landscapes in the northern central highlands of Ethiopia. During an 18-month period, we conducted this intensive study in an unprotected area of a human-modified landscape at Kosheme in Wollo to investigate the feeding ecology of southern geladas and their dietary responses to seasonal variations.

Ethiopia is in a geographic region that has been critical in the history of African agriculture with ancient and diverse human ethnicity and bio-climatic conditions. Using 52K genome-wide data analysed in 646 individuals from 13 Ethiopian indigenous goat populations, we observed high levels of genetic variation.

The Global Environmental and Occupational Health Hub for Eastern Africa was established to address some of these problems at national and regional levels through focused training and applied research that would yield evidence supporting policies and investments to mitigate risks of increasing environmental threats throughout the Eastern African region. Emphasis has been placed on air pollution, a leading risk factor for global mortality, accounting for over 7 million premature deaths or 8.

However, the perishability and unaffordability of fruits had led to very low levels of fruit consumption in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The objective of this study was to evaluate the retention of nutrients and bioactive compounds of papaya fruit ( L) with/without ascorbic acid pretreatment and drying under different techniques, to then estimate the vitamin A intakes for vulnerable population.

Frogs of the genus that inhabit the Ethiopian highlands serve as a model system to understand biogeography, diversification, and adaptations to high elevations. Despite recent studies focusing on the systematics of this group, the taxonomy of the species complex remains only partially resolved, owing largely to the morphological resemblance of its members. Here, the taxonomy of this historically problematic group of frogs is revised by integrating morphological and molecular analyses on both century-old type specimens and more recently collected material.

We determined the aflatoxin B contamination of family foods (AFB) and urinary aflatoxin M (AFM) of lactating women in Sidama, southern Ethiopia, and compared the levels across agroecological settings (lowland, midland, highland) and two seasons. We conducted two surveys ( = 360) that represented the dry and wet seasons of the locality.

However, quantitative data on macro and micronutrient intakes from complementary food is limited. Thus, this study is designed to identify the adequacy of energy and micronutrient intake from complementary foods among children aged 6-23 months and to characterize current feeding practice in Southern Ethiopia.
