Article Abstract

A.C. Goede, D. Glancy, H. Carter, A. Mills, K. Mabey, and A.R. Dixon, "Medium-Term Results of Stapled Transanal Rectal Resection (STARR) for Obstructed Defecation and Symptomatic Rectal-Anal Intussusception," Colorectal Disease 13, no. 9 (2011): 1052-1057, https://doi.org/10.1111/j.1463-1318.2010.02405.x. This notification is for the above article, published online on 31 August 2010 in Wiley Online Library (wileyonlinelibrary.com), and has been issued by agreement between the journal Editor-in-Chief, Steven Brown; The Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland; and John Wiley & Sons Ltd. After the publication of an Expression of Concern for this article on March 25, 2025 (https://doi.org/10.1111/codi.70065), corresponding author Anthony Dixon was removed from the UK Medical Register on 6 August 2025 at the request of the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS), as a result of the MPTS's investigation into allegations against Dr. Dixon. The notification has been agreed due to concerns raised regarding the legitimacy of the data reported and allegations of a lack of informed consent from patients who underwent the surgical procedure reported within. Therefore, the journal has decided to issue this notification to inform and alert the readers.
