Article Abstract

The high frequency of occupational accidents in manufacturing industries highlights deficiencies in controlling unsafe workplace conditions and behaviors. The automotive sector, as a cornerstone for related industries, has made a significant contribution to these statistics. This study examines the influence of hazard prevention and control on safety outcomes, focusing on the mediating role of safety behaviors and the moderating role of safety leadership within Iran's automotive industry. This quantitative research employed a stratified random sampling method to distribute survey questionnaires across 28 departments within the Iranian automotive manufacturing company, with 1149 employees participating. Structural equation modeling was conducted using the partial least squares approach to validate and analyze the hypothesized relationships. Additionally, expert assessments guided fuzzy cognitive mapping to identify causal relationships and prioritize variables within the occupational health and safety management system. The findings reveal significant associations between hazard prevention, control measures, and various dimensions of safety behaviors. While the evaluation and effectiveness of hazard prevention measures demonstrated the strongest impact, planning and implementation also influenced safety behaviors, albeit to a lesser extent. Safety outcomes were adversely affected by hazard prevention and control, mediated by safety behaviors and moderated by safety leadership. Safety leadership exhibited the most substantial effect in reducing lost time injuries, primarily by enhancing safety compliance. The proposed model enhances understanding of how organizations can develop effective strategies to improve workplace safety by identifying high-priority elements within the occupational health and safety management system. This allows them to allocate resources more efficiently and minimize incidents and waste.

Background: Grip strength and gait speed are key markers of physical functional capacity and general health in older people. This study aimed to examine the effect of low-dose aspirin on hand-grip strength and habitual gait speed in relatively healthy older people.

Methods: The ASPREE (ASPirin in Reducing Events in the Elderly) trial randomized 19,114 community-dwelling Australians and U.

Purpose: Decreased access to care and social drivers of health have been implicated in COVID-19 disparities. The objective of this study was to test the association between county-funded charity coverage (CFCC) and mortality among uninsured patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in a highly uninsured county.

Methods: This retrospective cohort study compared electronic health record (EHR) data among uninsured patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in a high-volume safety-net health system in Dallas County, Texas between June 2020 and December 2021.

Background And Aims: Additional epidemiologic evidence is warranted regarding the appropriate timing of statin initiation for incidentally found dyslipidemia in general health check-ups. This study examined the association between the statin initiation timing and the risk of myocardial infarction (MI) in individuals with incidentally detected high low-density-lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C).

Methods: Participants aged 20 years or older who underwent annual health checkups from 2009 to 2012 were included.

Introduction: Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection has been implicated in autoimmune processes, yet concerns remain about the potential autoimmune risks of HPV vaccination. Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) is a chronic autoimmune condition that typically manifests in childhood. The relationship between HPV vaccination and the development of JIA remains uncertain.

Influenza viruses can be aerosolized when slaughtering infected chickens, which increases the risk of zoonotic transmission. We conducted pilot experiments to measure the concentrations of airborne particles <2.5 μm during slaughtering and defeathering of chickens to help identify methods that can minimize workers' exposure to potentially hazardous aerosol particles.
