The accelerating adoption of artificial intelligence (AI), particularly large language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT, has raised critical questions about the role of pharmacists and the potential for AI to substitute for human expertise in pharmaceutical care. Grounded in Porter's Five Forces framework-specifically the threat of substitutes-this commentary explores whether AI can adequately fulfill the complex and relational functions of pharmacists in delivering care to patients. Drawing from foundational definitions of pharmaceutical care and economic theories of substitution, the paper examines both historical and emerging competitors to pharmacist-provided services, including physicians, nurses, and now AI-powered tools.

Asthma and allergic diseases are heterogeneous conditions driven by complex immunological pathways, with type 2 (T2) inflammation being a key but not exclusive component. Advances in immunology have spurred interest in a breadth of mechanisms and innovative therapeutic strategies, including novel targets, extended dosing intervals, and combined-target therapies. This clinical commentary provides a critical overview of ongoing clinical trials and emerging evidence supporting the use of these therapies in asthma and other allergic conditions.

Recurrent anterior instability with glenoid bone loss is a difficult problem with several surgical options. The Latarjet technique remains the gold standard for glenoid bone reconstruction in the setting of critical glenoid bone loss with excellent long-term outcomes. However, this technique has well known downsides including high rates of complications.
