Article Abstract

species are ubiquitous in the environment and serve as valuable source of enzymes and secondary metabolites for industrial applications. secretes metalloproteases, such as elastase LasB and produces bioactive small molecules, including pyocyanin, rhamnolipids, and pyoverdine, with potential biotechnological applications. However, the interest in for industrial use has been limited due to the virulence-associated Type III Secretion System (T3SS), a key factor in host-pathogen interactions. In this study, we genotypically and phenotypically characterized a collection of strains naturally lacking T3SS-encoding genes. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that these strains belong to two distinct clades. Several strains exhibited low or no cytotoxicity on epithelial cell lines and were avirulent in the infection model. The level of LasB and the three metabolites-pyocyanin, rhamnolipids, and pyoverdine-varied independently of virulence profiles. Notably, we identified avirulent strains capable of producing at least two secondary metabolites, including mono-rhamnolipids, highlighting their potential for biotechnological applications.

Background And Purpose: Low-level light therapy (LLLT) has been shown to modulate recovery in patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI). However, the longitudinal impact of LLLT on brain metabolites has not been studied. The purpose of this study was to use magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging (MRSI) to assess the metabolic response of LLLT in patients with moderate TBI at acute (within 1 week), subacute (2-3 weeks), and late-subacute (3 months) recovery phases.

This review examines the chemical and ecological interactions between filter-feeding mussels and the green macroalga Ulva prolifera in integrated multi-trophic aquaculture (IMTA) systems. Mussels are crucial for nutrient recycling, as they filter water and release bioavailable compounds such as ammonium (NH), urea (CO(NH)), and dissolved organic matter (DOM). These compounds promote Ulva growth and enhance microbial activity.

Lanthanum (La), being one of the crucial rare earth elements (REEs), plays an explicit role in agriculture as fertilizer. Due to its hormetic response, it exhibits dualistic behaviour in Triticum aestivum (wheat) plants. Abscisic acid (ABA) is a key plant hormone regulating various physiological and metabolomic responses in plants, but the interaction between La and ABA remains unclear.
