Article Abstract

Home management of the home and family, including household chores, childrearing, caregiving and shopping, can be a burden, especially when the person or a family member is ill or affected by psychological or social issues. We developed a subjective indicator of this burden, the self-report, five-item, five-point Likert scale "Perceived Home Management Hassles Scale". Here, we evaluated the psychometric validity of the scale, using an online questionnaire survey among members of the Japanese Association for Research in Family Nursing. Confirmatory factor analyses supported the unidimensional structure (CFI = 0.999, RMSEA = 0.028, SRMR = 0.007). Cronbach's alpha and McDonald's Omega was 0.92 and 0.93, respectively. Mean score was higher among participants with childrearing responsibilities than in those without (n = 198, mean = 10.3, SD = 5.24, vs. n = 312, mean = 6.4, SD = 4.59; p < 0.001), and among those with caregiving responsibilities than in those without (n = 81, mean = 9.6, SD = 5.11, vs. n = 829, mean = 7.6, SD = 5.21; p = 0.002). Score was independently associated with Kessler-6 score (B = 0.33, β = 0.331, p < 0.001) and mediated the negative effects of childrearing/caregiving. The Perceived Home Management Hassles Scale demonstrated sufficient structural validity, internal consistency, and construct validity, including known-groups and convergent validity. Test-retest reliability and generalizability to general populations awaits further research.

Department of Human Resource Management & Employment Relations, King's Business School, King's College London, London WC2B 4BG, United Kingdom; Department of Medical Research, China Medical University Hospital, China Medical University, Taiwan 404 Taichung Taiwan.

Introduction: This study aims to develop and validate a job crafting scale designed specifically for occupational health and safety (OHS) professionals working in a crisis environment. Job crafting, defined as the proactive adjustment of job roles to better align with individual preferences and strengths, is recognized as a valuable strategy for enhancing job satisfaction, engagement, and performance in various occupational settings. However, existing job crafting scales primarily focus on general work contexts and cannot fully capture the unique dimensions of job crafting relevant to OHS professionals in a crisis response context.

Psychometric Considerations and Age Appropriateness of Outcome Measures Implemented in Exercise Randomized Controlled Trials Within the Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis Cohort: A Systematic Review.

Division of Movement Science and Exercise Therapy, Department of Exercise, Sport and Lifestyle Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Stellenbosch University, Stellenbosch,South Africa.

Background: Juvenile idiopathic arthritis is an autoimmune condition of multifactorial etiology resulting in chronic inflammatory joint disease, which may be associated with systemic manifestations. Therapeutic exercise is essential to counteract physical impairments, which requires the implementation of outcome measures (OMs) in research and practice as they provide meaningful results for research efficacy, exercise program evaluation and quality, medication tolerance, and patient improvement.

Purpose: To assess the types of OMs implemented in exercise randomized controlled trials related to the juvenile idiopathic arthritis cohort and the psychometric properties and age appropriateness of the implemented OMs.

Background: An increased use of the internet and digital health care for patients with long-term conditions implies a need for assuring digital health literacy skills. Patients with restless legs syndrome (RLS) represent a group where digital sources of information are highly valued. This is due to a difficult diagnosis and complex treatment situation that contributes to patients seeking out digital resources themselves to handle the perceived shortcomings in their care.
