IntroductionThe use of digital solutions including patient-reported outcomes is limited to follow-up of patients with established diagnoses but is rarely used as first step of the diagnostic process substituting a personal contact with a health professional. We report on the diagnostic validity and cost per patient implications based on a feasibility study of a new virtual diagnostic service (VDS) for common neurological sleep disorders that, as a first step, involves the collection and automated analysis of self-reported digital patient data.MethodsThe VDS was established at the Odense University Hospital, Denmark.

Spectroscopic soft sensors are developed by combining spectral data with chemometric modeling, and offer as Process Analytical Technology (PAT) tools powerful insights into biopharmaceutical processing. In this study, soft sensors based on Raman spectroscopy and linear or partial least squares (PLS) regression were developed and successfully transferred to a filtration-based recovery step of precipitated virus-like particles (VLPs). For near real-time monitoring of product accumulation and precipitant depletion, the dual-stage cross-flow filtration (CFF) set-up was equipped with an on-line loop in the second membrane stage.

Cognitive impairment, ocular neuropathy, sensorimotor polyneuropathy, and subacute combined spinal cord degeneration can all result from a common illness called vitamin B12 insufficiency. With regard to extrapyramidal movement disorders, it is rare, frequently misdiagnosed, and under recognized, which postpones timely treatment. A case study of a 66-year-old man with acute-onset and reversible choreoathetoid symptoms is presented in this publication.
