RNA sequencing is a high-throughput sequencing method essential for unbiased detection and characterization of known and emerging plant viruses. Its high sensitivity makes it particularly well-suited for identifying low-abundance viral sequences, even in asymptomatic plants or those affected by complex, mixed infections. Here, we conducted a metatranscriptomic survey of plants from the Bulgarian market, both symptomatic and asymptomatic, and their corresponding in vitro plantlets. Viruses were detected in all tested samples demonstrating that visual symptoms are not a reliable indicator of infection. The viromes were dominated by petunia vein clearing virus (PVCV, ), cucumber mosaic virus (CMV, ), and tomato aspermy virus (TAV, ), along with bacteriophages and fungus-associated viruses. However, the PVCV and CMV abundance was elevated in in vitro samples, possibly due to cutting-induced activation and/or prolonged cultivation. Phylogenetic analysis of the Bulgarian CMV, TAV, and PVCV isolates highlights their genetic links to strains from a wide geographic range and diverse hosts, emphasizing the potential for virus movement and genetic exchange among plant viruses across regions and species. It also suggests that petunias may contribute to the transmission dynamics of viruses within ornamental trade networks. These findings also emphasize the phytosanitary risks to horticulture and establish a basis for further investigation into plant virus ecology.

The article focuses on the export of cadaveric pituitary glands from communist Bulgaria in the 1980s, used for the production of human growth hormone. The case is explored in the broader context of practices and transnational networks for the supply of pituitaries. Special attention is paid to the changes resulting from the turn to the production of recombinant growth hormone in the mid-1980s, which put an end to the international 'market' of pituitary glands.

Biostimulants are changing modern agriculture, as they have the potential to secure healthy and sustainable food production while preserving the environment. They have two main biological effects: growth promotion and stress protection. Both effects can lead to enhancement of the yield and improvement of the marketable grade of the produce in crops, without compromising crop quality.

Psychological studies on close relationships have often overlooked cultural diversity, dynamic processes, and potentially universal principles that shape intimate partnerships. To address the limited generalizability of previous research and advance our understanding of romantic love experiences, mate preferences, and physical attractiveness, we conducted a large-scale cross-cultural survey study on these topics. A total of 404 researchers collected data in 45 languages from April to August 2021, involving 117,293 participants from 175 countries.

The priority task of each country is to ensure the protection of and improvement in its people's health. One of the key aspects of health is related to food culture, consuming foods that ensure growth and normal development in a person and also prevent diseases. The consumption of foods that contain essential nutrients and functional foods, which include those containing probiotics, is the basis of a healthy diet.
