[How to gather consent in a gynecology consultation? The patient's point of view].

Gynecol Obstet Fertil Senol

September 2025

ingénieure au service de l'État, militante écologiste et féministe, France.

Objective: Consent is at the heart of the prevention of gynecological and obstetrical violence during gynecological consultations. These are moments of vulnerability that affect the patient's intimacy. To this day, the form and quality of consent gathering remains vague notions, and existing data are poor.

Genetic Entanglement Enables Ultrastable Biocontainment in the Mammalian Gut.

ACS Synth Biol

September 2025

Department of Biochemistry, Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, Western University, London, Ontario N6A 5C1, Canada.

Imbalances in the mammalian gut are associated with acute and chronic conditions, and using engineered probiotic strains to deliver synthetic constructs to treat them is a promising strategy. However, high rates of mutational escape and genetic instability limit the effectiveness of biocontainment circuits needed for safe and effective use. Here, we describe STALEMATE (equence enngd ulti lyered geneic buffring), a dual-layered failsafe biocontainment strategy that entangles genetic sequences to create pseudoessentiality and buffer against mutations.

Background: An inward force is experienced by the guide catheter during device retrieval resulting in potential risk of deep engagement into the ostio-proximal coronary segment. This undesired movement can result in coronary injury. There is no systematic data or reports of techniques to prevent such inadvertent guide movement during difficult retrieval of devices.

Purpose: Localization of abdominal tissue, such as tumors, in minimally invasive surgery (MIS) is crucial but challenging due to the lack of tactile sensation. This study aims to develop a tactile force sensor that provides tactile sensation for surgeons, enabling accurate tumor localization while ensuring surgical safety.

Methods: This study proposes an acoustic reflection-based tactile force sensor, with preliminary theoretical analyses and fundamental experiments performed to assess its response to applied forces.

Remote ischemic conditioning (RIC) is a simple, non-invasive procedure that has been shown to be safe and feasible in multiple smaller clinical trials. Recent large randomized controlled trials have yielded mixed results regarding clinical effect. Patients with severe stroke may experience greater benefit from cerebroprotective interventions, highlighting the need for adjunctive therapies to enhance endovascular therapy (EVT) outcomes.
