Neuroinflammation is a key factor in Parkinson's disease (PD) pathogenesis. However, the regional heterogeneity of biomarkers related to inflammation in PD is less well defined. We developed [F]GSK PET imaging to quantify neuroinflammation via the P2X7 receptor (P2X7R) in A53T PD male mice and wild-type (WT) male mice. Montelukast (MK) was administered to mice, and weekly behavior tests confirmed MK's efficacy. [F]L-DOPA/[F]GSK PET, motor testing, autoradiography, and immunofluorescence were performed after MK treatments. MK improved motor function and reduced the brain uptake of [F]GSK, indicating resynchronization of regional microglial activity. The whole brain uptake of [F]GSK was correlated with motor functional restoration, while [F]L-DOPA PET was not. Overall, our study indicated that brain mapping of [F]GSK PET is beneficial for exploring P2X7R-related neuroinflammation, which is correspondent to motor function in PD.

The ability to navigate through one's environment is crucial for maintaining independence in daily life and depends on complex cognitive and motor functions that are vulnerable to decline in persons with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). While previous research suggests a role for mobility in the physical act of navigation, it remains unclear to what extent mobility impairment and perceptions of mobility constraints may modify wayfinding and the recall of environment details in support of successful navigation. Therefore, this study examined the relations among clinical mobility function, concern about falling, and recall of environment details in a clinical sample of MS.

Background And Objectives: Years before diagnosis of Parkinson disease (PD), dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), or multiple system atrophy (MSA), mild prodromal manifestations can be detected. Longitudinal follow-up of people with prodromal synucleinopathy, particularly idiopathic/isolated REM sleep behavior disorder (iRBD), enables in-depth clinical phenotyping of early disease, which could facilitate stratification for clinical trials, provide the definition of appropriate end points, or predict phenoconversion more precisely. The aim of this study was to update and expand on previous studies assessing clinical evolution from iRBD to clinically diagnosed disease, up to 14 years before diagnosis.

Background And Objectives: We present a new Finite Element (FE) tongue model that was designed to precisely account for 3D tongue shapes produced during isolated French speech sounds by a male individual (RS). Such a high degree of realism will enable scientists to precisely and quantitatively assess, in a speaker-specific manner, hypotheses about speech motor control and the impact of tongue anatomy, muscle arrangements, and tongue dynamics in this context.
Methods: The shape and topology of the FE model were generated from 3D high resolution orofacial MR images of RS having his tongue in "neutral" posture.

Background And Objectives: Fatality rates of motor vehicle crashes among the old population have risen, primarily in association with age-related declines in health and functional abilities. Comparatively little research has been conducted to examine the impacts of risk-taking behaviors (such as unhelmeted, unlicensed, and drunk riding) on fatalities among old motorcyclists.
Materials And Methods: This study employed the Taiwan National Traffic Crash Dataset from 2011 to 2022 to investigate fatal injuries among old motorcyclists.

Investigating social and independent behavior structure in early life is critical for understanding development and brain maturation in social mammals. However, this investigation necessitates monitoring animals over weeks to months often with subsecond time resolution creating challenges for both lab studies focused on brief observation periods and field studies in which animal tracking can be imprecise. Here we used machine vision and two-week long continuous behavior recordings of families of gerbils, a highly social rodent, in large, undisturbed home environments to quantify the behavioral development of individual pups.
