Background: Central centrifugal cicatricial alopecia (CCCA) is a scarring alopecia primarily affecting Black women. To date, there are no standardized treatment regimens or approved medications for the treatment of CCCA. This single-center, open-label, clinical study investigated the efficacy of apremilast in the treatment of mild to moderate vertex-predominant CCCA.

The rapid repair of intraoral mucosal injuries is crucial for restoring oral epithelial homeostasis. Alpha-ketoglutarate (αKG), a multi-potential metabolite involved in protein synthesis, epigenetic regulation, and immune response, holds the potential in tissue homeostasis and wound repair. Here, we report that administration of αKG accelerates palatal wound healing, with enhanced re-epithelialization and increased collagen deposition.

Objective: Hard-to-heal (chronic) stage 3 pressure injuries (PIs) in medically complex patients are often refractory to standard treatments, and pose significant risks of infection, limb loss and diminished quality of life. Adjunctive use of advanced biologic materials, such as bovine-derived collagen matrices, may support more efficient wound resolution in these high-risk populations.
Method: In this retrospective case series, patients with hard-to-heal stage 3 PIs of the lower extremity were treated with a single application of a bovine-derived collagen matrix as part of a multidisciplinary wound care protocol.

Diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) are a major complication of diabetes, often requiring effective wound bed preparation for healing. This retrospective case series assessed a novel topical desiccating agent (TDA) used under a compassionate-use protocol approved by the institutional ethics board. A total of 67 patients with hard-to-heal (chronic) DFUs treated between 2020 and 2023 were included.

Objective: Purified collagen matrix containing a broad-spectrum antimicrobial, polyhexamethylene biguanide (PuraPly Antimicrobial (PCMP); Organogenesis Inc., US) has been shown to be an effective adjunct in managing wounds of different aetiologies. The aim of this study was to show the clinical outcomes of PCMP in the management of pressure injuries (PIs) and its implication on healthcare.
