In modern days, increasing weapon-related threats in public places have created an immediate need for intelligent surveillance systems to detect crime in real-time. Traditional surveillance systems have struggles with recognizing small objects, occlusion, and the time it takes to respond, which makes them ineffective in crowded and fast-changing situations. To overcome these challenges, the suggested system combines closed-circuit television (CCTV) surveillance cameras with advanced deep learning methods, image processing, and computer vision techniques for real-time crime prediction and prevention. This study proposes a hybrid deep learning framework that merges a Faster region convolutional neural network and Mask Region Convolutional Neural Network, named FMR-CNN. The novel approach FMR-CNN represents a significant advancement towards improving object recognition and segmentation of images and videos. It has been combined with YOLOv8 to increase the real-time detection speed and localization accuracy significantly. Such a combination enables the concurrent utilization of high-resolution spatial context information and rapid frame-wise predictions, thus making it well-suited for continuous video surveillance tasks. The model was trained and tested on a five labeled class annotated dataset, where MobileNetV3 features are extracted to simulate real-world surveillance conditions. Experimental results show the hybrid model attains detection accuracy of 98.7%, average precision (AP) of 90.1, and speed of 9.2 frames per second (FPS), and generalizes to varied lighting, occlusion, object scales, and reduced computational complexity, making it highly effective for crime prevention. Using these models benefits police departments and law enforcement agencies, as it allows them to detect criminal offenses earlier and avoid untoward situations.

Although, in principle, the Lancet article Commission on Medicine, Nazism, and the Holocaust, aims to provide medical students with a moral compass to guide the future of medical practice as a social retaining wall against anti-Semitism, it deals with the Holocaust not from a philosophical point of view, but from a pedagogical one, resorting to didactic strategies from a historiographical approach. What seemed to be a plea against the behaviour of the Nazi doctors' experiments becomes a justification of the positive law of the liberal democracies in use. However, what it ignores is of the utmost importance: that the majority of the regime's doctors were tried and sentenced for their iniquitous actions, and yet, in contemporary Western society, an even greater danger is very much present: techno-science, which, as it stands, can once again compromise the identity, dignity and very life of the human person.

Online romance scams are a form of fraud in which perpetrators fabricate online romantic relationships with victims, aiming to emotionally manipulate and, ultimately, financially exploit them. The review aims to synthesize existing research on how scammers operate and to develop a comprehensive crime script that can guide prevention and policy efforts.

The Abuse of Older People - Intervention Accelerator (AOP-IA) project aims to accelerate the development of effective interventions to prevent and reduce AOP aged 60 and older within the framework of the United Nations Decade of Healthy Ageing (2021-2030). The AOP-IA was launched in response to the global need for interventions with proven effectiveness, as few existing approaches have been rigorously evaluated. This paper focuses on the first two phases of the AOP-IA project, which involved conducting a systematic search, screening and evaluation process to identify candidate interventions ready to be rigorously evaluated in future stages of the project, as well as establishing a network of intervention developers.
