Purpose Of Review: The goal of this review is to provide practical guidance for gastroenterologists regarding diagnosis and management of inflammatory bowel disease associated spondyloarthritis.
Recent Findings: While there is limited data regarding optimal management approaches, we summarize available screening tools along with classification and consensus criteria that can be deployed in this setting and offer guidance regarding patient symptoms, physical exam findings, laboratory data, and imaging strategies that may facilitate diagnosis. In addition, we outline various therapeutic options available while highlighting deficits in the currently available literature. Inflammatory bowel disease associated spondyloarthritis is common but remains poorly understood. Ongoing research to establish a clear diagnostic pathway and reproducible treatment targets is essential to better identify and treat this patient population.

Piezo-type mechanosensitive ion channel component 1 (Piezo1) is an evolutionarily conserved and multifunctional mechanosensitive ion channel protein that has emerged as a significant contributor to the pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Piezo1 plays a crucial role in regulating intestinal barrier integrity, immune responses, and the intestinal nervous system, thereby influencing disease progression. Its expression patterns correlate with disease severity and inflammatory markers in IBD patients, indicating its potential as a diagnostic and prognostic biomarker.

Primary gastric squamous cell carcinoma (GSCC) or gastric adenosquamous carcinoma (GASC) is an uncommon histologic type for which no standard treatment has been established. The prognosis is poor, and there are few reports of effective treatment. Here, we experienced a case of GASC that was diagnosed preoperatively as GSCC and could be operated on after successful preoperative chemotherapy with pembrolizumab, 5-fluorouracil, and cisplatin.

Objective: Chlamydia trachomatis is a prevalent cause of infectious proctitis, often misdiagnosed as cancer or inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). This study aims to describe the main clinical symptoms, together with endoscopic and histopathological characteristics of Chlamydia trachomatis proctitis in the general population.
Patients And Methods: A retrospective observational study was conducted at a single institution, identifying all cases of proctitis due to Chlamydia trachomatis infection, detected by real-time PCR in rectal biopsy or anal smear, with endoscopic assessment.
