Dislodgement of cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) leads following implantation ideally should not be missed. However, more often than not, patients do not undergo post-operative imaging following these procedures due to a lack of evidence behind the role of imaging following uncomplicated pacemaker (PPM) implantation procedures, based on the most recent guidelines This is a case report of a dual-chamber pacemaker (DC-PPM) right ventricular (RV) lead that was found dislodged and coiled in the right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) as an incidental finding via a routine transthoracic echocardiogram (TTE) study two years after implantation. We intend to shed light on the significance of timely detection of lead-related complications, as they can result in poor outcomes for patients.

This study evaluates the therapeutic effects of erbium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet (Er:YAG) laser treatment at different energy settings on peri-implantitis in a randomized clinical setting. Forty patients diagnosed with permanent molar fissure caries were randomly assigned to 5 treatment groups, each receiving a distinct treatment protocol. The effectiveness of these interventions was evaluated by comparing restoration dislodgement rates, caries recurrence, and patient-reported oral comfort.

With the increasing number of total joint arthroplasties and the associated increase in periprosthetic infections, the further development of non-invasive examination methods to improve bacterial detection is becoming increasingly important. This is particularly important in the case of biofilm-forming bacteria, where false-negative results from joint puncture can lead to a delay in optimal therapy, as the number of planktonic bacteria in the punctate can be low. Extracorporeal shock wave therapy, originally used in the treatment of urolithiasis, has demonstrated promising energy-dependent biofilm-disrupting and even antimicrobial properties against Staphylococcus aureus.

Background: Peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs) are becoming an increasingly utilised alternative to traditional central venous access devices. Their uptake, particularly among oncology patients, is due to their growing ease of access, suitability for medium-term use and perceived safety profile. However, PICCs can be a source of severe and life-threatening complications such as central line-associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI), deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism (PE), malpositioning, dislodgement, and occlusion.
