Background: There is a higher prevalence of heart rate corrected QT (QTc) prolongation in patients with diabetes and metabolic syndrome. QT interval genome-wide association studies have identified candidate genes for cardiac energy metabolism, and experimental studies suggest that polyunsaturated fatty acids have direct effects on ion channel function. Despite this, there has been limited study of metabolite concentration relationships with QT intervals.

Background: Echocardiographic reference intervals for Quarter Horses are infrequently reported.
Objectives: To provide standard echocardiographic measurements for sedentary Quarter Horses and evaluate the relationship between physical characteristics (body weight, age, sex) and echocardiographic measurements.
Animals: Forty-one sedentary Quarter Horses, free of cardiac disease, from a university research herd.

Secondary mitral regurgitation (SMR) is common in patients with heart failure (HF). Although randomized clinical trials have been focused on the treatment of severe SMR, the prognostic role and potential for treatment of moderate SMR cannot be overlooked. The randomized RESHAPE-HF2 trial included patients with moderate and severe SMR with consistent findings in both groups, raising the hypothesis that transcatheter correction of moderate SMR could have beneficial effects, although this needs further investigation.

Background: Electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS) utilize "E-liquids" in order to generate "E-vapor", an inhalable aerosolized mixture containing nicotine and flavors. Flavored ENDS are very popular among teens who vape, however, the possible cardiac electrophysiological harm of inhalation exposure to flavored ENDS are not fully understood.
Objective: To test if inhalation exposure to flavoring carbonyls in e-liquids compromises mitochondrial integrity, increases oxidative stress, and leads to cardiac electrophysiological toxicity.
Objective: To assess the longitudinal impact of Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training on student pharmacists' perceptions of stigma, comfort, confidence, and willingness to intervene with someone experiencing a mental health issue over time.
Methods: Students in a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program completed MHFA training as a curricular requirement and were surveyed to gather perceptions six months after the training. Survey data was analyzed in combination with two separate surveys conducted immediately before and after the training during a previous project.
