Peripheral nerve stimulation (PNS) has evolved with various applications and durations of therapy. In recent years, extensive data has been developed on a 60-day treatment using a novel approach. Confusion exists on the use of a trial therapy, a permanent implant, and a 60-day duration treatment. The American Society of Pain and Neuroscience (ASPN) seeks to clarify the literature associated with this neuromodulation approach. A diverse group of experts was nominated to provide opinions and guidance based on evidence-graded assessment and clinical knowledge. This guidance is the first to specifically assess the clinical use of 60-day PNS and best medical practice.

We investigated the impact of short-term dietary nitrate supplementation on sympathetic neural responses to isometric exercise in postmenopausal women. Ten healthy women aged 64±2 (SD) years participated in this randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind, crossover study. All participants underwent two-week beetroot juice (BRJ: 800 mg nitrate/day) and placebo (nitrate-depleted BRJ) interventions with ≥14 days of wash-out.

Children affected by armed conflict suffer devastating physical, emotional, and social harm. War uproots families, forcing many to flee as refugees or internally displaced persons, while others remain trapped in dangerous environments. In these crises, children face disproportionate risks-violence, exploitation, disrupted education, and collapsed healthcare systems.

Methods: Data were from mother-child pairs (n = 202 at baseline). Children were M = 10.

Tobacco use is the primary contributor to disease and death in the United States, and cigarette smoking is the leading risk factor for lung cancer. Safe and effective treatments for tobacco dependence exist; however, access to and use of tobacco treatment remains low. The most recent Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services National Coverage Determination requires a shared decision-making visit for lung cancer screening that includes counseling on the importance of maintaining cigarette smoking abstinence if a person formerly smoked; or the importance of smoking cessation if a person currently smokes and, if appropriate, furnishing of information about tobacco-cessation interventions.
