Mansonella perstans is the most prevalent human filarial parasite, infecting over 100 million people worldwide. Despite its wide distribution, it remains one of the most neglected parasitic infections, largely due to its asymptomatic clinical presentation and the difficulty in isolating adult worms. These factors have limited our understanding of its biology, including lifespan, reproductive behaviour, and migration patterns.

The ectopic intrathyroidal thymus (EIT) is located anywhere in the thyroid gland along the developmental pathway of thymic descent due to thymic migration during embryogenesis. Ultrasonographic findings of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) resemble those of EIT, which is frequently found in children. We comprehensively evaluated the clinical factors associated with EIT to understand its physiological implications and to explore helpful information for clinical discrimination between EIT and PTC.

We consider a two-Patch malaria model, where the individuals can freely move between the patches. We assume that one site has better resources to fight the disease, such as screening facilities and the availability of transmission-blocking drugs (TBDs) that offer full, though waning, immunity and non-infectivity. Moreover, individuals moving to this site are screened at the entry points, and the authorities can either refuse entry to infected individuals or allow them in but immediately administer a TBD.

Background: The recent resurgence of malaria in western Thailand has coincided with increased cross-border migration from Myanmar following political unrest. As short-term migrants from endemic areas may contribute to sustained local transmission, this study examined their malaria care-seeking behaviours and infection prevalence.
Methods: A community-based cross-sectional study was conducted during March-April 2025 in six malaria-endemic villages of Tha Song Yang District, Tak Province, western Thailand.

Background: Foreign body ingestion is a common emergency in clinical practice. While the majority of cases are resolved following successful removal, rare and unexpected complications can arise, such as the spontaneous displacement of a foreign body during the procedure. This report describes a unique case where a foreign body initially lodged in the esophagus was dropped during the procedure, leading to aspiration and migration to the airway.
