Background: In the era of value-based care, cost-reduction strategies for total hip arthroplasty (THA) have focused on surgical bundles and reductions in postacute care spending. Few studies have evaluated the costs of nonoperative treatment and the impact of THA as a cost-saving measure for longitudinal spending. The purpose of this study was to determine the costs of care for THA patients in the year before and the year following THA.

Purpose Of Review: This review explores clonidine as a potential treatment for agitation across various clinical contexts, focusing on its application in patients with limited cognitive reserve, hyperactive delirium, or conditions where standard treatments may exacerbate underlying symptoms, such as Parkinsonism. The review evaluates the pharmacological properties, efficacy, and practical considerations for using clonidine in managing agitation, including its role in other psychiatric and medical conditions.
Recent Findings: Clonidine, a centrally acting alpha-2 adrenergic agonist, reduces norepinephrine release, leading to sedation, anxiolysis, and analgesia without significant respiratory depression.

Purpose Of Review: This review critically examines the clinical utility, efficacy, and tolerability of fluphenazine long-acting injectable (LAI) relative to contemporary alternatives. It further evaluates whether fluphenazine LAI confers substantive advantages over other available formulations for the management of schizophrenia, particularly in light of its long-standing use.
Recent Findings: The extant literature demonstrates that the tolerability and side effect profile of fluphenazine LAI are comparable to other FGA LAIs but likely less favorable than available second-generation antipsychotic (SGA) LAIs.

Background: While insurance claims database studies have reported on costs before total knee arthroplasty (TKA), the cost-efficacy of nonoperative treatment remains unclear in patients who eventually undergo TKA. Furthermore, we hypothesized that patients undergoing primary TKA would have lower costs in the year following surgery than if patients continued nonoperative treatment. The purpose of this study was to determine the costs of various nonoperative treatment modalities in the year before and following primary TKA.
