This study investigates the microscale suppression mechanisms of four powder explosion suppressants on coal dust/methane (CH) mixed system explosions. Combining experimental and numerical simulation methods, we explore the gas-phase reaction processes and the role of free radicals in the explosion suppression. Results show that all suppressants reduce the maximum explosion pressure and pressure rise rate, with MPP being the most effective, reducing pressure by 38%. Suppressants inhibit explosions through physical (heat absorption) and chemical (free-radical consumption) mechanisms. Phosphorus-containing intermediates from NHHPO and MPP react with free radicals, while NaHCO and MCA decompose to produce inert gases and consume O• and H• radicals. This work provides a theoretical foundation for optimizing explosion suppressants in mining safety applications.

Acute ischemic stroke (AIS) remains a leading cause of mortality and long-term disability globally, with survivors at high risk of recurrent stroke, cardiovascular events, and post-stroke dementia. Statins, while widely used for their lipid-lowering effects, also possess pleiotropic properties, including anti-inflammatory, endothelial-stabilizing, and neuroprotective actions, which may offer added benefit in AIS management. This article synthesizes emerging evidence on statins' dual mechanisms of action and evaluates their role in reducing recurrence, improving survival, and mitigating cognitive decline.

Distinctive polymer brushes (PBs) play a crucial role in providing a nonpreferential (neutral) surface for vertical orientation of block copolymers (BCPs). This bottom-up approach effectively aligns the formation of vertical lamellar and cylinder lattice structures from the BCP, which is crucial for nanopatterning and other applications. In conventional BCP self-assembly techniques, random copolymer brushes are commonly employed to achieve substrate neutrality.

Surfactants adsorb at interfaces and reduce the interfacial tension. In technical applications, they are typically used as complex mixtures rather than monodisperse systems. These mixtures often include ionic and non-ionic surfactants, with the non-ionic components comprising various monodisperse species.

Large-scale geological processes shape microbial habitats and drive the evolution of life on Earth. During the Oligocene, convergence between Africa and Europe led to the opening of the Western Mediterranean Basin, a deep-ocean system characterized by fluid venting, oxygen depletion, and the absence of benthic fauna. In this extreme, inhospitable seafloor environment, fusiform objects known as Tubotomaculum formed, whose origin has long remained controversial.

Introduction: Developing and implementing trauma clinical guidance is integral to providing quality care to all trauma patients while maintaining a minimum standard of treatment. A mixed-methods novel consensus-building approach was used to identify the current barriers to developing and implementing trauma clinical guidance and highlight the priority areas for change to better support end users.
Methods: As part of year 1 of the Design for Implementation: The Future of Trauma Clinical Guidance and Research Conference Series, preconference participant surveys and hybrid, professionally facilitated, structured dialogue were used to define the ideal future state of trauma clinical guidance development and dissemination.
