AuCu nanoclusters have widespread application in reactions like activation of , selective oxidation, and cross-coupling reactions. In this study, we investigate the stepwise doping of copper atoms in a pure 13-atom gold cluster, denoted as (m+n = 13). The genetic algorithm based on the artificial bee colony algorithm has been utilized to model various isomers of each composition. The potential energy landscape of these clusters was analyzed by means of the density functional theory method with pure Perdew-Burke-Ernzerhof (PBE) functional. We identify the minimum energy isomer for each cluster composition to evaluate molecular properties like HOMO-LUMO gap, binding energy/atom, second order difference in energy, vertical ionization energy, and vertical electron affinity. Notably, the introduction of copper atoms in these clusters enhances their stability and reactivity. Distinct odd-even oscillations due to close shell electronic configurations are absent, as all cluster compositions have an overall open shell configuration. To assess the catalytic activity of the clusters, we study the adsorption energies of small molecules like and on all available sites on the cluster. This study thereby comprehensively explores the range of copper-doped 13-atom gold cluster compositions and their implications on their structure-property relationships vital for catalysis and nanomaterial applications.

Background And Aim: Hospital effluents are a major source of environmental contaminants, harboring pathogenic bacteria, toxic trace metals, and high organic loads. This study aimed to evaluate the bacteriological and physicochemical profiles of wastewater discharged from three coastal hospitals in Oran, Algeria, and to assess the associated public and livestock health risks under the One Health approach.
Materials And Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted from January 2023 to February 2024, involving monthly sampling at three hospitals and one drainage collector.

Motivated by copper's essential role in biology and its wide range of applications in catalytic and synthetic chemistry, this work aims to understand the effect of heteroatom substitution on the overall stability and reactivity of biomimetic Cu(II)-alkylperoxo complexes. In particular, we designed a series of tetracoordinated ligand frameworks based on iso-BPMEN = (,-bis(2-pyridylmethyl)-','-dimethylethane-1,2-diamine) with varying the primary coordination sphere using different donor atoms (N, O, or S) bound to Cu(II). The copper(II) complexes bearing iso-BPMEN and their modified heteroatom-substituted ligands were synthesized and structurally characterized.

Fluorescent N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) metal complexes are useful for various chemical and biological applications. In this study, we developed a simple strategy to synthesize BODIPY-linked NHC metal complexes involving Ag, Cu, Ni, and Pd. The synthesis began with the preparation of BODIPY-imidazolium salt as a precursor ligand.

Electrocatalytic synthesis of ammonia is a sustainable, cost-effective alternative method for producing renewable electricity and can operate under milder conditions than the traditional Haber-Bosch method. We report direct laser-induced synthesis of copper nanocatalysts embedded in graphitic films for the synthesis of ammonia. Laser-induced metal-embedded graphene (m-LIG) offers many advantages, such as fast and simple synthesis, shape design of the electrodes, and direct printing on any substrate, including thermally sensitive plastics.

An unprecedented recyclable system of copper-catalyzed C-C/N coupling of isatins and DMSO without any oxidant and acidic/basic additive has been unlocked. The -isatins occur tandem -methylation and C5-methylthiomethylation in order, while -substituted isatins proceed C5-methylthiomethylation only. DMSO serves as Me and MeSCH sources as well as the solvent.
