Article Abstract

We present the first amplitude analysis and branching fraction measurement of the decay D_{s}^{+}→π^{+}π^{+}π^{-}π^{0}π^{0}, using e^{+}e^{-} collision data collected with the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between 4.128 and 4.226 GeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.33  fb^{-1}, and report the first observation of the pure W-annihilation decay D_{s}^{+}→ωρ^{+} with a branching fraction of (0.99±0.08_{stat} _{-0.07}^{+0.05}_{syst})%. In comparison to the low significance of the D wave in the decay D_{s}^{+}→ϕρ^{+}, the dominance of the D wave over the S and P waves, with a fraction of (51.85±7.28_{stat} _{-7.90}^{+4.83}_{syst})% observed in the decay D_{s}^{+}→ωρ^{+}, provides crucial information for the "polarization puzzle," as well as for the understanding of charm meson decays. The branching fraction of D_{s}^{+}→π^{+}π^{+}π^{-}π^{0}π^{0} is measured to be (4.41±0.15_{stat}±0.13_{syst})%. Moreover, the branching fraction of D_{s}^{+}→ϕρ^{+} is measured to be (3.98±0.33_{stat} _{-0.19}^{+0.21}_{syst})%, and the R_{ϕ}=B(ϕ→π^{+}π^{-}π^{0})/B(ϕ→K^{+}K^{-}) is determined to be (0.222±0.019_{stat} _{-0.016}^{+0.016}_{syst}), which is consistent with the previous measurement based on charm meson decays, but deviates from the results from e^{+}e^{-} annihilation and K-N scattering experiments by more than 3σ.

Importance: Trisomy 13 (T13) and trisomy 18 (T18) are chromosomal abnormalities with high mortality rates in the first year of life. Understanding differences in long-term survival between children with full vs mosaic or partial trisomy is crucial for prognosis and health care planning.

Objective: To examine the differences in 10-year survival between children with full T13 and T18 vs those with mosaic or partial trisomy.

Background: Acute myocardial infarction in the elderly often leads to significant left ventricular structural remodeling, which adversely affects prognosis. This study aims to evaluate the effects of intensive rosuvastatin therapy on markers of ventricular remodeling and cardiac function following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in elderly patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).

Methods: This study enrolled 100 patients aged ≥60 years with STEMI who underwent emergency PCI.

Terrestrial ecosystems are a key component in the biogeochemical cycle of Hg. About 50% of atmospheric Hg is captured in the system because of the ability of vegetation to retain and subsequently transfer it to the soil surface through litterfall. In a stand dominated by Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris), the widest spatially distributed tree species in the northern hemisphere and the second worldwide, this two-year study evaluated monthly the litterfall Hg deposition fluxes (FHg) through all litterfall fractions involved (needles, twigs, bark, miscellaneous, and male inflorescences).

Glyphosate-based herbicides are the most widely applied pesticides worldwide and have been implicated in the development of certain hematologic malignancies; however, the underlying biological mechanisms are not well-understood. High lifetime use of glyphosate-based herbicides, hereafter referred to as glyphosate, was previously associated with mosaic loss of chromosome Y (mLOY), a biomarker of genomic instability potentially linked to cancer and immune dysregulation, in circulating blood of male farmers from a subcohort of the Agricultural Health Study (AHS). Here, we further investigated the association between glyphosate use and mLOY using buccal-derived DNA among 1,868 male pesticide applicators in an independent AHS study.

Population aging is an increasing challenge for cancer control in rapidly aging societies, yet remains inadequately quantified. We aim to project and illustrate the cancer burden attributable to aging in Korea by utilizing age-period-cohort (APC) models and population attributable fraction (PAF) concepts. From population-based cancer data, incidence and mortality of cancers primarily affected by aging (stomach, colorectal, liver, gallbladder, pancreatic, lung, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, esophagus, prostate, ovarian, male bladder cancers, and female leukemia) and breast cancer were extracted.
