Article Abstract

We present the usability testing of a digital questionnaire co-designed with patient representatives. Two usability methods, think-aloud and timed usability testing, were employed to assess the system. Twelve participants took part in the study by completing the questionnaire, reporting HNC symptoms. Think-aloud testing revealed issues such as unclear instructions and layout inconsistencies, while timed usability testing indicated that younger participants (16-54 years) completed the tasks faster than older participants (55-74 years), although the difference was not significant. The System Usability Scale (SUS) scores reflected overall positive feedback, with suggestions for further improvements.

Large-volume intravenous (IV) smart pumps are used in acute and critical care to deliver IV fluids and medications with safety-enhancing features such as dose error reduction systems. Although these technologies offer improvements over manual administration, IV smart pumps are associated with high rates of medication errors, programming challenges, and usability issues. Alarm fatigue, interface complexity, and workarounds are common, with studies showing high error rates.

Lack of availability of blood for transfusion is associated with significant mortality rates across the world. Blood collection and storage can be managed either in centralised or decentralised facilities. India has a decentralised blood bank network supply chain, which results in blood wastage due to the lack of data to decide on the quality and suitability of blood for transfusion.
